Ontario St. S. S. Executive Meets ••••••••••••••••••••• Nineteen members of Ontario St. Church Sunday School Ex- ecutive met at the' home of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Aiken. The first hour was spent on the teacher training project using the book "Teaching as Jesus Taught" with Rev. G. Eagle as leader. Minutes of the last meet- ing were received as read and items therefrom duly discussed. It was decided to send for samples of Bibles for use in the differ- ent classes; to have promotions on Sunday, Jan. 6; to have the committee of Rev. G. Eagle, Mr. Stewart and Mrs. Powell select a new Cradle Roll secretary in Mrs. Groves' place; to have all outstanding .bills paid. Some correspondence from Rev. Scott, of Blyth, was discussed and each group was to report to Mr. Stewart. The February meeting to be at the home of Mrs. Olde. Shown here is the 1952 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe four-door sedan. • 1952 Chevrolets on Display Saturday CLINTON NEWS-RECORD (By our Hensall correspondent) John Passmore, superintendent of Hensall Hydro System for the past 35 years and who retired from active duty with Hensel" PUC the first .of January,- was honoured at a presentation ar- ranged by members of Hensel' PUC held Thursday evening, Jan- uary 3, at the home of the chair- man, Reeve A. W. Kerslake. Following a supper, Mr. Pass- more was presented with a lazy- boy chair, the accompanying ad- dress read by Walter Spencer. Mr. Passmore came to Hensall from Stratford in December 1909 where he had been engineer in Stratford Electric Power Plant for five years. He came to Hen- sail and purchased the Electric Light Plant from Thomas Welsh, thinking hydro would never come to a small village. It came, however, in December 1916 and in January 1917 Mr. Passmore was appointed superintendent by the council and had served in that capacity ever since, and had served under nine reeves. Phone' 73-X Clinton RCAF Hangs Loss On Kincardine Clinton Flyers made no mistake as they took Kincardine over the hoops to the extent of an 8-3 count in a WOAA Intermediate hockey fixture in Clinton Lions Arena Wednesday last before a good crowd, mostly RCAF per- sonnel The Airmen led 3-0 at the end of the first period, and 5-2 at the end of the second. Thompson was the big gun for the locals, with four goals, while Petrie was in for five assists, Garrow notched two counters. Eastern Star Beams The regular meeting of Clinton Chapter, • No. 266 UD, Order of the Eastern Star, was held in the Parish Hall, Clinton, on Thurs- day, January 3. Mrs. Jean Kyle became a member by affiliation. General business was dealt with in the usual manner and refreshments were served at the close under the convenership of Sister Dor- othy Crozier. Members of the Order attend- ed evening worship in St. Paul's Church of England Sunday even- ing, January 6. p Attend Divine Worship Members of Clinton Chapter No. 266 UD, Order of the Eastern Star, attended divine service in St. Paul's Anglican Church Sun- day evening, Jan. 6 It was the Chapter's first church service since its institution in September last. The service was in charge of the rector, Rev. R. M. P. Bulteel, assisted by F/L C. L. Harding, Protestant chaplain of Clinton RCAF Station, both of whom are members of the Order. The for- mer extended -a hearty welcome to the visitors. Rev. Mr. Bulteel took his text from Matthew 2 : 12: "When they had opened their treasures, they presented unto Him gets." He suggested five gifts that could be presented to God: faith- ful obedience, work six days a week but' observe the Sabbath; unselfish loyalty; bring all griefs and sorrows to His feet; and true love. These were only some of the gifts. Mrs. R. M. P. Bulteel sang a solo. New Club House Planned by Fish And Game Club Huron Fish and Game Conser- vation Association, at its month- ly meeting Monday, Jan. 7, in the Board Room, Ontario Agri- cultural Office, decided to pro- ceed with the construction of a new club house, after the com- mittee chairman, Mitcheal Mc- Adam, had brought in a report of estimated cost of $1,564. The executive was empowered to bring in recommendations on ways and means to raise money for the erection of the building on the club's farm ,in Goderich Township. The secretary was instructed to write RCAF Station,. Clinton, to try and procure the revue, "Stage Crazy" for local presentation at a later date. After hearing an address by Walter T. Wilson; Kitchener, sec- retary of the Federation of Ang- lers and Hunters, the members voted to join the organization. No winner of the bulletin prize was drawn, but the following won the other draws: cap, Dean AldwincKle; shell belt, Tames Brown; gun cleaning kit, Lewis Freeman. 0 Hensall Couple Celebrate Diamond (By our Hensall correspondent) Surrounded by members of their family, Mr. and Mrs. John MI. Richardson, Hensall, sat down to a banquet in celebration of completion of 50 years of mar- ried life, and the beginning of a new year. Born 75 years ago in Stanley Township, Mr. Richardson is a I son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hydro Superintendent Named at Hensall (By our Hensall correspondent) James Clark, 27, has received the appointment of superintend- ent of Hensall Hydro System, and will succeed John Passmore, superintendent, who retired the first of January after 35 years' service. Mr. Clark, who has been em- ployed with Mr. Passmore for over six years, was born in Hen- sel', and' has lived here all his life with the exception of two years' service with the RCNVR.
