ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS
TO BEGIN ON JUNE 27th'
One of, the last two surviving de-
partmental systems of examinations,
the entrance class , schedule will be
commenced this year on June 2.7. It"

wi, continue for two days. As was
the, custom adopted in 1939, writing
Chas. been discontinued . as a separate
special ,subject, but marks ,for writing
are determ ined by studying, other pa-
pers written. '
According to copies of the examin-
ation program received, English liter-
ature .and: mathematics +will be writ-
ten on ..June 27, with English compos-
ition and, , spelling on, the following
day. Grammar is included with corn -
position.

For 'several years:ever since the
provincial .departngent of education
began abolishing. examinations, in. vat-'
Mous grades 'of, the, secondarg, schools
there' has' been a movement. towards
the abolition of the entrance• class ex-
amination. With. the announcement of
the examination schedule forthis year
•officials know, that .the department
has not' yet decided to • eliminate these
tests. • .
However,; they number of examina-
tions has been decreased from nine to
four papers.:.

been assisting Mr. -Edgar Ritchie, who
had the misfortune to diOlocate his
shoulder some time ago.

nounced for March 15th having been
