were elected by large majorities.
Tim. Provincial bye -election in Well-
and County is over, and the county has
again said very plainly that it is in favor,
and that strongly so, of the Reform
Government. Mr.. J. F. Gross. the Liber-
al candidate, being elected by the hand -
majority of about 275.
TYPIICIn fever resulted Inenore deaths
in the Province of Ontario in November
than for any month in the past five
years. The fatal cases numbered 133.
The total number of deaths from all
causes during November were 1,900,
compared with 1,501 in the correspond-
ing month last year.

Minutes of Council meeting held in
Esty's hall, T3luevalo, Dec. 15th, iN00;
Members all present ; the Reeve en the
chair; Mantes of last meeting were read,
approved and signed.
The Reeve reported having let a job
of tile culvert ou Wawanosh boundary
to Wm. Ranson at $10, Wawauosh to
pay half cost,.
Mr. Musgrove reported having lot a
job of repairing culvert on B lice to Jno.
Black at 50 cents.
Mr. Lovell reported having let a job of
putting in now culvert on Hoivick
boundary to Thos. Smith at $15, Howiek
to pay half. cost.
The Reeve and Treasurer laid their
annual statement before the Council for
their inspection.

statement be received and adopted and
that the Clerk get 125 copies printed for
distribution at nomination meeting.—

Coupland—Muse,rove -,- That by-law
No. 17, 1900 be read three times and
passed, for the holding of a public moot-
ing for the noinination of members of
the council for 1001, on the 31st day of
December, 1000, at 1 o'clock 'p. in.—

Reeve Cruickshank and the other
members of this year's township council
will all stand for re-election for 1901.
We have not heard of any opposition to
the old members of the council board.
The councillors appear to have. done
their duty' faithfully and will no doubt
be returned.

Robert Bruce lost a valuable horse last
week. He has bought another to take
his place.
The lecture on South Africa to have
been given on Tuesday night by Morgan
Jones was postponed as Morgau was ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Phillips were in Col-
borne this week attending a wedding.
Mason Brothers are digging a well for
John Armstrong on his new lot.

Saturday.

funeral of Mr. Gannett's cousin.

to the cottage opposite the Baptist
church. Her son-int-Iaw, Chas. Mc-
Blwain will also reside in town.
Mrs. B. Jenkins and daughter have re-
turned from an extended visit. with her
relatives in Bay City, Mien, Mrs.
Paulin, her mother, is now 'visiting in
Wiughain. '

Elyth, and Mrs. Chas. Bradwin, of
Hanover, -were 'visiting at the hone of
