The reports presented, to the Coun-

showed a year of continued activity

the Y. P. S. opened with the singing
of hymn 226, and all repeated the
Lord's prayer. The Scripture lesson
was read by Fred Wainwright. Min-
utes were read and adopted and the

pointed for a three year term as a
member of the Highways Committee,

Elderslie, whose term had expired
and who was not a member of the
County Council. The other two mem-
,bers of the Committee are ' 'Reeve
Munn of,'• Ripley, , who is chairman,
and Reeve Richard:' Elliott of Kinloss,
who "is'' secretary of the Committee.
Reeve William ' Winter. of Walkerton
is the •County Council's representa-
tive on the Bruce County Hospital
Board.
Delegates were appointed: to•, the
various Associations .as. follows.: On-
tario Good.' Roads Association, War -
to' about $800.00and in the case of .den, Highways .Committee, Engineer,
Southampton to about $300.00.' In pre-
senting their case the delegates intim-
ated that unless they received special
aid from the' County they would be
forced ,in the near future to close
their : schools. '
After a full discussion of the mat-
ter for 'upwards of two hours the
question was finally referred to the
Education Committee and the special
auditors of school accounts. Messrs.
White of Lion's Head and Young of
Tara, to investigate and report at
the June: session, when . the question
of special school grants motile' be fin-
ally settled. .
HOUSE ' OF REFUGE
The number of inmates 'at present
in the House of Refuge is '54, an
in-

Of these 30 are) men and 24 women.
There were 11 deaths among the m -
mates during the year. The total -net
cost of- operating the Institution . for
1939'. was $5,988.92 and including the

both the Province and the County;
That the premium on Grade A hogs
The following grants were made: ' over Grade B hogs beincreased from
