painted pie tins that have been showing

photographs on the wall were not taste-

The samples of penmansnip had a
crowd around them all afternoon. Most
of the writing was 'excellent and all
vertical. There were three classes,
namely, under 26, under 13 and under
10. The three first prizes all went to
the Rintoul family of No. 0, East Wawa -
nosh, Je,unie, Alberta and Alexander.
Miss Grieve is their teacher.
A large slumber of quilts were shown,
knitted, crocheted and pieced. All the
entries were good; not a poor piece of
work them. D'Oyles were there by the
hundred, in netting, crochet, drawn
work and silk embroidery, all nicely
worked. The hand -painted china that
got first prize didn't Have much to com.
pete against as it was the only genuine
article, the rest was but an imitation
and is probably manufactured by the

prize for sowing by a child under eight.

block of pieces for a quilt, and vary nice
