occurred at his ho • e in Turnberry, on

vicinity. Mr. Wa er had took a severe
cold on the day of John Pelton's sale,
early in January, d had not been well
since that time, tie ugh able to be about
more or less since at time. to was
in town on Saturd, y, the 10th inst. He
took worse on Tu • day''evening of last:
week, when pneumonia set in, and he
died on Friday. Deceased was one of
the most widely known and highly re-
spected, residents of the township of
Turnberry. 13e Cause to Canada from

the farm now owned by his son George
for over twenty years and had lived 'on
the farm where h + died for over seven-

perous condition during his term of
office. John Vim Welker was a man
respected by all lee° had his acquain-
tance, and he had many warm friends
in this and other realities who will re-
gret to hear of his dden death. For
nineteen years he lid been a member of
Wingham Lodge, A.. O. U. W., and a
member of Cana ran Foresters for
the same number ;f years. He had
been Financier in etc former lodge for
thirteen years, awl a more faithful
officer of any lodge! could not be than
the deceased. W have known the de-
ceased for a mumble of years, and we
never remember of past Saturday in any
month occurring b' it that he was in

his office in the A. U. W. He was
also a member of th A, F. & A. M. In
politics he was a sta nch Liberal. De-
ceased had been •ied three times,
twice before leaving he old Land. His
first wife died when e. hacl been mar-

wife died over three ?ears ago, Ile was
harried to his third : vita, who was Mrs.
Rosetta Miner, some Ave years ego. Hai
leaves behind to int urn his death, be-
sides his widow, :a f miry of two sons
and four daughters. The two sons are
Joseph W. and Gear e, highly respected
residents of Turnber , and the daught-
ers are Mary Jane, n w Mrs. Foxton, of ;
Cuh�oss; Elizabeth, w Mrs. Will am -
son, of Brussels; coelia, licca Mrs.
Scott, and Alma arttha, now Mrs.
Haut, of Manitoba. Tho funeral took
place on Sunday ternoon from his
late residence to the Ingham cemetery,
under the auspices o the A. U. U.. W,
and 0.0. F. The funeral was one of
the largest that we vo ever seen to the
Wingham cemetery testifying the high
esteem: in which the eceased was held
