Mr. John Collie, station agent at
Alma, formerly stationmaster here, was
married on Wednesday of last weeks
and. he and his bride are visiting his'

Canada at the outbreak of the McKen-
zie Rebellion of '37, and rattled with his
parents near Aberfoyle, in Puslinch
township. In 1852, in, company with his
newly wedded wife, Grace Anderson, he
settled on the present homestead., in the
13th Concession of Wawanosh. The tor -
dons, Somervillee, Morhersons, Ryder -
fords, Camerons, O'Loughlins, Mc.
Donaids, Carols, Andelsons, and Gamuts,
arrived about the same time, and the
nucleus of a progressive little settlement
was formed. Success crowned their
efforts, and. flourishing farms took the
place of the -unbroken stillness of the
forest. In '94 he removed to LucknoVr,
where he has since resided. No man
was better known throughout Wawa -
nosh than Alexander Cameron. His
sterling worth, Unimpeachable integrity,
his honesty of purpose, and. his great
dislike of anything that savored of
hypocrisy or shame nada his mune one
to be respected wherever he was known.
His genial nature, and his observative
powers sampled with a most retentive
memory and a wonderfully varied ex-
perienee made him a most pleasing Con-
versationalist, and. many' , of the re,
miniscenees of the early days were pre-
served. intact by hien. In politics he
was a staunch Liberal and. was a consis-
tent Member of the Lucknow Peesby-
teriim thureh. His widely and a family
of eight survive hint: Mrs. McKenzie,
of Campbellville; Roderick D., Lusk -
now; Alex. M., Wheatland; jarries.,
Saskatchewan.; Kenneth, on the home-
stead; John H. Bravais; Angus and
