TOWN COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the town cow,.
ail was held =Monday evening: Mem-
bers all present. The meeting was, eal-
led for the purpose. of considering the
propriety of snbmitting•a by-law to the
ratepayers for the purpose of aiding a
table factory by way of a bonus; also to
aid a foundry by way of a loan.
Mayor Clegg stated that if the council
thought it prudent to deal both matters,
it would. be tetter to have bill passed at
the approaching session of the Legisla-
ture, andthen should the bill pass, submit
the bylaw to the ratepayers. He
thought onebill would coverboth matters
if the council Saw fit to deal with both.
He asked the question if conn eilhad
certainly enough from the ratepayers
that the by-laws would pass, to uphold
