United Church choir presented a "Christmas Festival of Music" to a full house on Sunday, December 20th. at 7:30 p.m. the choir. under the direction of Dr. Ralph Tapp, brought many beautiful Christmas Anthems., before the audience. Mrs. Marilyn Zivkovic. of Exeter, was the Guest soloist, inspiring the congregation with her two solos "Down From His Glory" and "Jesu Bambino". The choir presented the Christmas story through their Christmas anthems: 'Gift Of New Sight' by Klusmeier, "In the Bleak Mid-Winter" by Darke. "Nativity Tale" by Betyea. the Three Carols "Sleep Sweet Babe." "Jesu of a Maiden Thou West Born." and "And a Babe is Born" by Meek, "Child Jesus Came to Earth" by Hatch, "The Three Kings" by Cornelius and Wilcox, "Follow the Star" by Hurlbutt, "What is This Lovely Fragrance" by Willan "The Bella are Ringing" by Lupton, "For Unto Us a Child is Born" by Cartet, "Sussex Carol" English Tra- ditional, and "He Is Here" by McMahon. Taking solo parts in the anthems were Gail Shaw, Carol Stuart, Donna St. John, Bps Flute and Doug Mock. The evening was interspers- ed with Carols by' the congre- gation and The Christmas story read by members of the choir. Readers were Gail Shaw, Don McCaffrey, Jean Cole, Cara: Stuart, Richard Peckham, Ron Mock. The evening was closed with a prayer and Benediction by Rev. McDonald. At the close of the service much appreciation was ex- pressed through the audience and Mr. Eric Mansfield, chairman of the Worship Committee, expressed on be- half of the congregation and visitors appreciation to the choir- end Dr. Topp the organist and Choir Director not only for the very fine service presented but the tremeedous support and qua- lity of music presented each Sunday. He then pre- sented Dr. Topp with a Gift in appreciation. - The members of Hensall United Church. celebrated a candlelight and Communion service on Christmas Eve. Rev. Stanley McDonald con• ducted the service and the. story of the first Christmas assisted by two Narrators. Miss Sheila Riley and Glen Slade. The Christmas candle was lit at the start, of the service and candlerabra were lit on the west side of the church and in front. of the pulpit. The choir entered carrying candles in a process- ional and proceeded to the choir seats. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Pepper greeted worshippers at the door and ushers were Jeff Corbett, Brian Beer, 'Dr. Goddard and Ken McLean. .A Christmas Family Ser- vice was held at Hensall United Church on Sunday December 27 with Rev. Stan- ley McDonald conducting the service and Mrs. Joyce Pep- per at the piano. The Junior Choir supplied the Introit with "Come along with me to Jesus" conducted' by their minister and during the ser- vice sang and led in prayer with "Our Christmas --Prayer." Following the ben- ediction they closed with a choral prayer, "Come, Lord Jesus, come and be born in my heart." Soloists Item the Junior Choir during' the ser- vice were Pam Gackstetter singing, '*-Child in a manger,' and Wayne Scotchmer sing- ing "What can 1 giVe Him?" A trio of boys also sang, "As lately we watched."
