underwent surgery'in Victor-
HoSpital. London last week
returned to his home.
The December meeting of
Unit two of Hensall United
Church women was held on
Monday evening December
14, at 8 p.m. with MI6. Joyce
Pepper in the Chair. She
opened the meeting by read-
ing a poem. "A Christmas
Song". Mrs. Sadie Hoy led
the Devotional with a Christ-
mas story "To Bethlehem
with love" and the carols "0
Come All Ye Faithful" and
"0 Little Town of Bethle-
hem" were sung. Two other
carols were sung at the
beginning • 'Silent Night"
and • Away In a Manger".
Joyce read legends about
shrubs and flowers associat-
ed with Christmas for the
study and conducted the
business. The Huron Perth
Presbyterial meeting will be
held in Hensall January 25 at
12:45 p.m. One voting dele-
gate from each unit and two
representatives to attend.
Next year will be the year
of the Senior Citizens. Unit
two will again canvas the
village for the march of

The Amber Rebekah
Lodge members held their
Christmas Party on Wednes-
day evening December 16th
knowing the business. Nob-
le .Grand Bertha MacGregor
chaired the meeting assisted
by Vice Grand Gladys Cole-
man. who also gave the
report tor the visiting com-
mittee. The Treasurer. Mrs.
Dorothy Corbett gave the
financial report and a donat-
ion was voted to the Family
Service organization.
Several cards f m the
District Lodges were read by
the secretary Mr . Ruby
Bell, also an invitation. to
meet with Goderich Lodge on
February 2nd that being the
visit of the vice-president,
Bernice Hall and a request
for Amber members tc
"Drape the Chater."
Also an invitation to attend
Tuckersmith Unit 1 held
its Xmas Pot Luck dinner and
meeting Dec. 15. A delicious
meal was enjoyed by all.
Followed by devOtions led by
Mrs. Beatrice Stoll and Mrs.
Doris Sillery. Mrs. Sillery
opened with a poem. "A
Candle Wish" and a hymn.
"Away in a Manger" was
sung with Mrs. Ann Broad-
foot at the piano. Mrs. Stoll
chose her meditation on
"Hope" and a story on why
Christmas trees are not per-
fect. A poem "Dig Priceless
Gift of Christm " was read
by Mrs. Sillery and hymn "0
Little Town of Bethlehem"
was sung. Closing with a_
Christmas prayer. President
Mrs. Hazel McCartney wel-
comed everyone to the meet-
ing. She thanked the devotion
leaders for also taking the
general meeting devotion and

delicious lunch served by the

The IOQF Lodge members
held their Christmas party on
Thursday evening and final-
iz ed the plans to distribute
boxes,to shut-ins on Sunday,
December 20th by the C.P.T .
committee of lodges.
Representatives of the
Ladies' Auxiliary and Legion
members visited the resid-
ents at Queensway Nursing
Home on Thursday evening
and give out Christmas
treats.
Psalm. The roll call was
answered with , a Christmas
wish by 16 members. Mrs.
Berry reported for the trea-
surey. Thank you cards were
read from Bob and Jane
McNaughton, John and Bill
Cal and Russell and Helen
Dallas. A Xmas letter was
read from a former Pastor,
Rev. and Mrs. Stephens.
Captains for the 1982 pennies
are Mrs. Beatrice Stoll and
Mri. Grace Chapman. Mrs,
Doris Sillery-and Mrs. Marj-
ory Broadfoot were nomi-
nominated to make up the
1982 Unit 1 schedule. The
same slate of officers was
. re-appointed for 1982. The
project for the Jan. 12 meet-
ing will be a bake sale.
Thanks went out to theladies
in charge of serving the lovely
dinner and the attractively
decorated tables.
An hour of fun was held
including games etc., and
slide pictures shown by Mrs.
Jean Henderson. .A cup of tea
was served.

Christmas treats to shut-in
on Sunday December 20th.

The service started with
carol singing and the light-
ing of the fourth Advent
candle by Mrs. Dianne Ger-
stenkorn who represented
the women of the congregat-
ion. The choir sang. "Sleep.
Sweet Babe". Jesus of a
maiden Thou wast borb"
and "A Babe To. Be Born" by
Meek, solo parts by Mrs.
Donna St. John, Mrs. Gail
Shaw and Doug Mock.
Later they sang "Gift of
new sight" by Klusmeirer.
The children's thought was
to remember whose birth-
date they were celebrating.
Randy Park welcomed every
body at the door and ushers
were David, Roweliffe.
Georhe 'Beer, Ken McLean
and Bob Drysdale.
A special Christmas Eve
Service will be held in
Hensall United Church
Thuisclay, December 24th, at

The Young People of Car-
mel Presbyterian conducted
the service on Sunday. De-
cember 20th under the dir-
ection of Miss Maty Thomp-
son with Mrs. Dorothy Taylor
presiding at the organ. Miss
Kathy L ve opened the ser-
vice anave the meaning of 14
e A vent. A skit on Advent
was resented by Misses
Donna Taylor. Janet Hog-
garth and Paul Hoggarth.
The Meaning of the Wreath
was given by Miss Kathy
Love. Miss Mary Thompson
gave' the. stagy , of the Christ-
mas Tree.
Several young people de-
corated the tree namely:
Kathy Troyer, Kathy and
Elaine Love. Murray Taylor,
Greg and Paul Hoggarth.
Bruce Thompson, Janet Hog-
'garth and Miss Mary Thomp-
son. Miss Elaine Love lit the
candle of Hope and Peace,
Miss Kathy Troyer lit the
candle of Love and Joy.
The junior choir sang
"Away In A Manger" and
the 'Senior Choir sang
"Christ Me Lord is Born"
Mss Jane Pollock. guest
soloist sang "It Came Upon
the Midnight Clear" and
"What Child is This" ac-
companying herself on the
guitar. Bruce Thompson read
the announcements and de-
dicated the Offering, Several
carols were sung during the
service.
The president of the Lad-
ies' Mrs. Al Hoggarth called
Rev. and Mrs. Knight to the
front and presented them
with a Christmas gift. They
made a fitting reply of
thanks. The service closed
with "Hark the Herald An-
gels Sing" and the Benedic-
tion..
