Larry Broome and Bennett terrorized the Bruins all night and the threesome combined for seven goals and th assists for 2.3 big points. Ron Quipp and Larry Broome each scored four times for the *inners. In addition to Bennett's two markers the Hawks got a pair from Ben Van Den Akker, and single tallies from Hal Bremen(' Perry Broome. CHAMPIONS — Members of Seaforth District High School's senior Whippets who won the WOSSA "A" girls basketball championship Dec. 5. The Seaforth Atoms hockey team continue their winning Streak by defeating Blyth by the score of 7-0 on Dec. 19. Pat Nigh firing three goals for the hat trick, Raymond Mur- ray added . two goals, and Brad Caner and Cord O'Dw- yer scored one each. The next game for the Atoms will be the Palmerston tournament on Dec. 28. Game Time is 10:15 a.m. The team also plays at 12 noon, Dec. 30 at a tournament in Ayr. Seaforth Novice team Terrific Monkton game Seaforth Ringette team ties Clinton Our Seaforth Novice -Team is maintaining their winning streak. On Dec. 10 we travell- ed to the Monkton arena. The kids played ,a terrific game, and came out on top 4-1. Jeff Weber scored his first goal of the season and is itching to The Seaforth Junior Ring- ette Team has been busy lately too. This past Friday the girls played against Chaff' on at Vanastra arena. This ' was a rather diappointing game- they didn't lose, the game was tied 6-6. but the opposition was much their senior. None the less the girls held their own and did well to manage a tied game. Seaforth scorers were Lisa O'Dwyer. Chris Campbell. Jennifer Watt. Tammy Taylor and Allyson Scott. Seaforth. This was another cliff hanger for awhile. Sea- forth took a 3-0 lead, but Brussels came, back and tied - the score. Our boys' managed to pull it off again though and , we won 5-3. There were a few different scorers in this. game. Ted Sills could have been playing for the pros with his T.V. goal. Keyin McLI- wain was in there playing and came up with a nice goal and a couple of assists. Brad Schroeder was also a real digger and put one in the net. And Brent Vanden Akker- one of our big scorers put in two. Next on our agenda is a tournament in Exeter on Boxing Day. Wish us luck! try a game in goal. Brent Vanden Akker scored the first two goals of the game, then Milverton put on the• power, and we were tied 2-2 for awhile. It was touch and go. but we finally put two more goals in and came home victorious with' a score of 4-2. Kevin Cardno was pretty excited about scoring his first goal this year. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Crozier, Brian, Paul, Kevin and Lori of Seaforth Midgets ' edged Blyth last Tuesday by a 4-3 sw.lOrelin Dale was the big gunner for Seaforth with three goals and one assist. Jim Campbell added the other goal and picked up an assist. Dave Murray had two assists and Greg Murray had one assist. Seaforth had 10 of the 16 minor penalties in the game. Huron Ridge visited on Sun- day evening with her mother, Mrs. Florence McLlwain.and with the Merners. Bob Thompson of Univer- sity of Western Ontario in London and John Scott of Guelph are at their homes for the holidays. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Merners, and also thank you to everyone who has helped out when Carl was in the hospital and since returning home. It was greatly appre- ciated. Stinday night-the fickle OIL blew my theory all to pieces. The Flyers pummeled the Canadians AS-2. while the Hawks buried the Bruins by 14-S count. The Penguins and Rangers managed to maintain a thread of respectability when that match ended up 4.3 in favour of the birds. What_ made it most fright- ening was that the Hawks and Flyers tore apart, their oppo- nents with shocking ease. The leagee. up to last Sunday. hak enjeyed many close exciting games. Hopefully last weeks fia- scos won't continue. HAWKS 14 BRDiNS5 It seemed the Bruins had it all going for them last Sunday night. They had a full squad out. They were frisky and ready to go and the club was looking to upset the Hawks and edge away from the bottom of the standings. What happened was that instead of a fired up Bruin squad, they came out flound- ering like beached whales. The Hawks jumped all over the bears early and led 7-2 after the first stanza. game. 11 The girls don't have ano- ther game scheduled till Jan 9 in Huron Park. In the mean- time, I'm sure they'll be practising very hard. Police- men are bya.,nature ,j_not known for spreading much happy news. We deal mostly with people when they are at their worst behaviour, or when tragedy has struck, and so it is very easy for us to become very cynical about promise of new and better facilities from which to oper- ate. We look forward to the day when you can all come in to have a chat with us in a building you can be proud of.
