The first presentation was
to Stephanie Baldwin of
London, who received a
cheque on behalf of
Louis Vince. Field Represen-
tative for the arthritic society
in this area. The cheque was
for $500. donated by the
Father Stephen Eckert Coun-
cil as a result of a draw held
last fall at the annual Zurich
Bean Festival. Presenting
the cheque was Bro. John
Paul Rau, Council Activity
chairman, assisted by Grand
Knight. _Ewan Wilson.
The second presentation to
the Arthritic Society, canvas-
'*d by the Knights under the
chairmanship Bro. Frank
Reynolds which included
Seaforth and Area. Mr.
Reynolds, assisted by Grand
Kt fight Wilson presented a
cheque in the amount of
approximately SI 200.
The third presentation was
a 25 year pin to' Bro. Louis
O'Reilly by the Grand Knight
on behalf of the membership.
The regular draws held by
the council;were: door prize.
AMMOMNY: Bros.
Wayne Ralph and Louis
Mahoney won the Lectures's
draws, while the share...the-
wealth went to Davie John-
ston of Hayfield, and the $50
consolation was won by
Donna Caers of Zurich.

held their annual Chrismtas
draw with the following prize

Mt. Carmel, was in charge of
this draw and informed the
gathering all prizes were
donated.
Dancing followed for the
_remainder of the evening
with music being supplied by
Mozart's Makers. The even-
ing ended with a smorgas-
hord lunch.

Roman Catholic Separate School Board.
The standing committees are as follows,
with the chairman's name first: building and

A Zurich area man was
recenly nominated for a
province-wide award to re-
cognize his 46 years of
service to Catholic education.
Charles Rau, of R.R. 2.
-Zurich was nominated for the
Ontario Separate School
Trustees' Association award
of merit by ;the 'Enron- Perth
Roman Catholic Separate
School Board.
Once nominated, it is up to
the OSSTA to make a final
decision from nominations
received. The decision is
expected-in March of 1981
with the award to be present.

Mr. Rau was first elected
as a trustee for the Separate
School Section No. 1 Stanley
in 1932, The following year
he became secretary-treasu-
rer for the board and contin-
ued to serve as a trustee in
Stanley Township until the
union of S.S.S. No. 1 Stanley ,
with S.S.S. No. 1 Hay.
This union board was
formed. in 1959. In a letter
from the Huron-Perth Separ'
ate School board to the
OSSTA, it States: "AS a
mark of his unselfish devot-
ion to the people of the area.

diligently to bring the people

immersion program there.

representatives of the group.

ber of children and their
ages, and the religious affil-
iations.
The Board did not want to
commit itself at present, but
agreed it is board policy to
meet delegations.
The group is now only
looking at the City of Strat-
ford area, and is hoping to
establish a kindergarten
french immersion class by
September of 1982, Ministry
of Education funding is avai-
lable. but there are no, .details
at present.
