Bob Mommersteeg of Seaforth's Centenaires was
tied for 12th place in the Western Junior D Hockey
League'S' scoring race, according to the league's latest
statistical release Dec. 5. The 20-year-old rightwinger
from the Zurich area had 27 points in 18 games. from 11
goals and 16 assists. Mark McLlwain of Seaforth was
the Centenaires' most accurate shooter at the time of
the release with 14 goals in 18 games. and another
seven assists for 21' points: Doug Wintermute ,of the
BelmontBombers was the league's leading point-get-
ter, with 31 goals and 29 assists for 60 points in 18
games. Rob Froese of the Tavistock Braves was second
in the scoring race, but the league's top sniper with 36
goals and 20 assists for 56 points in 16 games.
Following are the Centenaires' slats as of Dec. 5:

Centenaires fail to
end losing streak
The Seaforth Jr. Cente-
naires failed in both weekend
games to snap their losing,
streak. Their record remains
at one win in twenty-two
games.
On Friday night they
dropped a 4-3 squeaker to the
Thedford Browns, while on
Sunday they gave up four
unanswered goals in the third
period as they suffered a 7-4
defeat to the Lucan Irish.
Against Thedford the Cen-
tenaires played a strong
game right from the opening
faceoff but were unable to
capitalize on several good
chances. Thedford led 2-1
after the first period and each
team traded goals in both the
second and third frames.
Scoring tor the Centenaires
were Gord Love, Mike Kelly
and John Hicknell. Both
teams had two power-pi-4
goals apiece while the Thed-
ford squad outshot the locals
35-26 including a margin of
15-5 in the first period.
Referee Ray Richards
handed out 72 minutes in
penalties with Thedford pick-
ing up 37 of them.
In the Lucan game the
Centenaires held a 2-1 le'ad
after the first period and 4-3
after the second before .taking
a couple of stupid penalties

On Friday night the
Seaforth Pee Wees travelled
to Brussels and defeated the
local team by a score of 7 to
5. Pat Murray lead the
scoring with a hat trick. Mike
Betties scored twice and
rsingles went to Ron Pryce
and Andy Ball. The Brussels
boys came out skating and
checking hard, but good
defense from Mike
Schoonderwoerd and Dave
Akey and solid goal tending
from Steve Stapleton created
an unbeatable combination.
On Sat4rdav the Seaforth
Peewees hosted Wingham at
Vanastra and once again
came away victorious. To
date they have not lost any of
their scheduled games. Mike
Kettles opened the scoring
early in the first period and

Van Drunen. Bob Malone.

Doig. with a shorthanded
goal. Lucan ,outshot the
Centenaires 34-33 and picked
up thirteen of twenty-five
minor penalties called in the
game.
The Centenaires have a
return match in Lucan Wed-
nesday and have two more
home games in Hensall this
weekend. On Friday night
they play host to the Mitchell
Hawks.at 8:45 and on Sunday
afternoon they tangle the
Exeter Hawks at 3:30.
