JOHN TEMPLEMAN 345-2346 Cromarty Ladies Aid held their annual Christmas meet ing in the chtirch basement Monday evening' with 26 ladies present: The highlight of. the evening, was the demonstration on making chocolates by Mrs. Gordon L Laing. This was enjoyed by all present along with sampling the finished chocolates. Many famili at Christmas carols were sung accompan- ied by Mrs. Ivan Norris on the piano. Mrs. Charles Douglas, read the Christmas story from Luke 2, and she and Mrs. Jean Carey each read a. Christmas story. Interesting reports were given by all committees. The treasurer's report showed a veryasuccessful year. *Mad win in. as many meetings for the Canadians over the Bruins. PENQVINS3ELYERS-3 Dave Broome scored twice for the Flyers- with Mike Marion getting the third tally. COMMUNION SUNDAY Communion was held on Sunday during the regular service at Hibbert United Church with a good crowd in attendance. Following lunch everyone had the opportunity to see through the newly renovated manse. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Par- sons, have returned home from a week's holiday in Las Vegas. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Scott and Mr. and Mrs. John Drake. visited on Sunday with Mrs. Belle Colquhoun., iii Clinton. ' Mr. and Mrs. Rob Temple- man. Carrati. and Cain. visit- ed Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Ebel, 'Stratford. Van den Akker 's second marker was an empty net effort that put the game finally away for the 'whit'e shirts. Notes-The Penguins currently have the best goals against average with a 3.22 remind our members of the Christmas party this Sunday. 20th December at 2 o'clock. There will be an interesting program by the members` children. Mrs. Sybil Miller has promised once again to have her puppets perform for us. At the close of the program, 1 have been inform- ed on good authority that Santa will be paying us a visit with a bag of goodies for the kids. This Friday night the bowl- ers will be having their annual Christmas party after bowling. This will be the last night of bowling until after • New Years. so don't forget you bowlers to be out on Friday for this event. The New Years eve dance tickets are going well now and I would advise anyone wishing to have tickets to get them right away. There is a limit on the number of tickets that were printed. Our ways and means chair- man Chas. Geddes wants to remind us of the share the wealth tickets now on sale. The tickets will be drawn at the Boxing Night dance on Dec. 26th at the Legion. Everyone witl .be-Weicome to attend this function. _1 The early bird campaign has reached 83% and by now has probably surpassed it. in the next two weeks we hope we can come, up with that magic 100% and with every- one's co-operation it can be done., This Thursday night is our meeting night comrades lets mark. CECILIA RYAN 345-2028 Mrs. Jean Van Drunen returned home after spend- ing' 2 weeks in Holland visiting her mother and other relatives. During her stay in Holland it poured rain and on the flight home the plane had to land in Preswick. Scotland due to the bad snow storm in London. England. When the plane arrived in Toronto there was a snow Storm there and only one landing strip open so they were delayed ,an hour before the plane could. land. Instead of 7 hours the trip took about 11 hours to get home. Upon arriving in Sea- forth Jean was pleased to'ind the weather was beautiful. While in Holland Jean at- tended a Saint Nicolas' party on Dec. 5th which is different from Santa Claus here. In spite of the bad weather Jean Santa will often enjoyed her stay in Holland. Mr. and Mrs. James Mailloux, Toronto visited on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Lane. Miss Joanne Murray, Rankin Inlet. N.W.T. is home this week with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Murray. Stanley McDonald conducted the service and preached on "The Messiah Comes". At the time of Jesus' birth,, John the Bap- tist. his followers and the Jewish population were ail looking for a ruler. a King. someone who would re-awak- en the law. But Jesus' only law was love and his whole life was witness to this. Each of us, by the way we live should portray a little Mei- siah. At Christmas time in our business it is very easy toshut Christ'out. Let us all let Him in this Christmas.
