The first female warden in Perth cited seniors housing and satellite archives as two of'-her major goals. HERMAN LEONHARDT 345-2419 Luther League Special guest, Youth Staffer, Claudie Ward of Windsor, was the speaker at the Worship Service on Sunday morning in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brodhagen and attended the Luther League. meeting in the afternoon. Mrs. Frieda Bennewies had her family home with her for their Christmas dinner on Sunday. Numerous local people attended the 'annual Glee Club Christmas concert and the Stratford Barber Once more the Last Baby of the Year Award will be presented to the baby born closest to midnight on December 31st at hospitals in Stratford St. Mary'S, • Seaforth, Listowel and Exeter - the areas covered by the Stratford and District Right to Life. Last year's "Last Baby of the Year" was a boy born to Mr.. and Mrs. Huggett ofR.R. 4, Seaforth at the Seaforth Hospital. This was decided at a Right to Life meeting on Tuesday. Carla Revington. Opened the meeting with prayer. She welcomed Mrs. Anne O'Brien, who is the new corresponding-secretary for 1982-83. Anne Thompson read the minutes- of the last meeting and Paul Franks gave the terasurer's report. It was decided .to have a newsletter sent out to all members at.. the end of January. Also in the plans is the annual Art Contest beginning the end of-January . • Shoppers, in the auditorium in the Mitchell High School oil Siinft evening. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Leonhardt of Thamesford visited with Mrs. H. Leonhardt and Earl, on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Leonhardt, Jeffrey and Kevin of Embro visited at the same home on Sunday. As Perth County's first femade warden, many of those congratulating her made reference to "madame warden". Perth MP William Jervis commented '`what a beautiful ring it has." Others congratidating the new warden included, Ed Doerr; president of Perth's past wardens' association. Mrs. Margaret Wilrnont, rep. resenting MPP Hugh Ws- heifer, Listnwel Mayor Wil- liam Jones. Stratford Mayor Ted Blower,, and Perth County Board of Education chairman Howard Shantz. John McKay, a member of Perth's past wardens' asso- ciation welcomed 1981 ward- en Wilfred Tiler into the group and presented him with a pin. In making the presentation. Mr. MCKay said Reeve Tuer will be joining two others from Downie Township in the club. Rev. John Anderson of Trinity United Church, List- owe!, gave the invocation. Those present for the cere- monies were representatives of Listowel town council. including the mayor, admini- strator Hartley Fischer, town engineer Mark Cowen, spouses of county council, and members of Warden Karges' family. Perth's first man. Oliver Karges was introduced by the warden, along with her son. Peter of Cambridge, and the warden's mother, 86-year-old Janet Harding of Fordwich. Warden Karges' other two sons, Allen of Trail, B.C. and Donald of Scarborough were unable to attend. Sisters and a brother of the warden were also in attendance. Following the ceremonies, Mr. Karges said "we are very happy and very proud". and ending. March 31, 1982. This contest is for all elementary and secondary schools in Huron and Perth counties. Also discussed were the two presentations to be given in February; one in Drayton and one in Mi.tcheU.
