Presbyterian Church held
their combined Christmas
and annual meeting on
Thursday afternoon at the
home of Edna Stoneman.
Aileen Knight presided. The
roll call was answered with a
Christmas tradition.
Favourite carols were sung
and the Christmas Story froms,
Luke was read in unison.
Mrs. Knight dealt with the
theme, "Let the light of
Christmas abide with us all
through the year". Agnes
Lamond gave as her topic.
"Time and Space for God."
The president. Dorothy
Miller. read an address and
presented a Life
Membership Certificate to
Lillian Douglas. who
expressed her thanks.
The annual reports were
read and accepted, The
meeting closed with the
Lord's-,--Pfliyer. • Agnes
Esmond assisted the hostess

from various groups in Perth
County. the Plowmen's Asso-
ciation will make a bid for the
• 198" International Plowing
Match even though they
anticipate disappointment
Since establishing the de-
sire to have the IPM in Perth.
the association has its eye on
1987. but is aware of the:-fact
Grey County has been, turned
down two years ih a raw and is
in the running for 198^.
George Waldie. a long
time member of the associa
Don. warned members not. to
be disappointed as Grey
County is "very aggressive"
in its attempts to be awarded
the 198' plowing match,
President Doug Aitcheson
said when Perth first applied
for the 198' match, no other
county was in the running,
but said it wouldn't surprise
the association if they v. eren 't
given the go ahead for the
match.
Perth's representative on
the Ontario Plowmen's As-
sociation Albert Carson. said
Grey County has a lot of
recreational land. while Perth
County is mainly agricultural
which had been provided by
all.

idea Perth also wouldn't be'
awarded the match in 1988
because of its relative close-
ness to Grey County isn't
true. As an exampie. he 'Said
Lambton county hosted the
match in 1973. the year after
Perth last hosted the 'event.
He said Latiibton is about as
close to Perth as Grey.
President Aiteheson said
Pertli•will make a "low -4Y"
presentation in, its attempt to
get the IPM at the OPA's
annual convention in Toronto
on Feb. 15 and 16.
First vice-president Lloyd
Morrison said six farmers in
Perth have been approached
by the association to see if
they would allow the match to
be held on their farms.
"Five indicated their wil-
lingness. while one is unde-
cided," said Mr. Morrison.
Other groups supporting
the idea. include the four
Women's Institute districts in
Perth. church groups, service
clubs. the City of Stratford
and the County of Perth. The ,
association's members pre-
sent at the annual meeting
also gave their support.
In other business, the asso-
ciation:
