My little finger is still on the mend but at least I can write this week. (Some may argue this point). I didn't receive many phone calls this if I missed reporting anything spectacular. let me knoW. The men's team that went to Sarnia, had its usual good time Dave Bill Flem- ing, bobNVilsonand Jim Rose made up the foursome. They curled well uritikheing.pu; out Saturday.night. Ts, Vincent Spiel Dec, 1 was a huge success. The 9 a.m. draw was won by the Bill Gibson rink front Vanastra. Bill bad Brian Falconer. Dave Townsend and Scott Consitt curling with him. Second prize went to Phil Foster's rink from Goderich and third went to Cam Bogie's rink also from Goderich. The 11 a.m. draw was won by Dale Ross from Harriston. He had one local curling with him, Gerry Walters from Goderich. Sec- ono was Bob Allan from 44--astra and third was Allan Sienuth from Mitchell,. The games were close and good curling and food was had by all. Thanks to Vincent Farm Equipment for sponsoring the spiel. Gerry Walter and Don Tremeer along with Kellough and Tucker made up a team that went to flarriston for the cosh spiel on. Friday, Satur- day and Sunday- They met up with *Id "hought" another Seafortit team consisting of Gord Pryce, Bill Campbell, Bob Jarmuth and Keith Sie- man. Neither team was in the money but they all were in on the fun. As 1' am writing this Irma erne, ii,oxintne- 'Brown: Marie ble0aVin and Sharon Wilson are curling in the Pnovingials in Durham. Loss spurs Seaforth novice team on to win 3 - 3 A black cloud fell over the Seaforth Novice Hockey this past weekend. The players know now what its like to suffer the "agony of defeat." The boys played in Mitchell Friday night and were defeat- ed 3-2. Scoring for Seaforth were Kevin Cardno, and Brad Schroeder. The team didn't show the same spunk that has been evident in its other games. This first loss, maybe proved beneficial as they came back the next day and won against Elma Logan 3-2. The children played a much better game. Scoring for Seaforth were Danny McNanghton, and Brent Vanden Akker (2). It doesn't seem to take long for even these young players to learn about positioning. They know that one forward has to be in front of their opponents net when the play On Saturday morning Dec. 5 the Seaforth pee wees hockey teams outskated and outplayed Exeter and played good .positional hockey for a 4-1 win. ••4, Thanks to the solid defensive work of Greg Scroggs, Duane Price and Paul Henderson the Seaforth goalies had little work to do. Kevin Cooper was up to his old hat tricks again in this cOntest, netting three goals with assists by Patil Murray and Gregg ' Seroggs. Dan Primeau opened the scoring. Last Tuesday Dec. 1 the Seaforth midgets hockey team hosted Clinton and won 7-5. Jim Campbell paced the attack with three goals and two assists. Dave Murray had two goals and one assist, and John Dale had one goal and two assists. Kevin Melady scored a single goal. Dave Campbell and Dave Mc1.1- wain had single assists. Seaforth had a 5-0 lead at one point in the game but hung on for the vieforv. only to .have-- Exeter come back on a breakaway goal to tie the score 1-1 at the end of the first period. But . the Seaforth lads never looked back. They skated hard and backchecked relentlessly for the remainder of the game. Next game is Dec. 19 at 9 a.m. against Mitchell. On Dec. 1 Seaforth pee wees hockey team continued their winning streak by 'de- feating Mitchell 4-2. Pat Murray opened the scoring for Seaforth assisted by Joey Smith. Mitchell evened 'the score with a goal by Dennis Pauli. At the end of the second period, Murray scored again on a goad passing play from Ron Pryce and Joey Smith. Terry'Gray and Ron Pryce finished the scoring in the third period in what was a rather lack lustre gaine. SEAFORTH PEEWEES 11 BRUSSELS 3 Sunday's contest against Brussels showed the home crowd what kind of solid hockey our local boys are This is a fun age group to watch. Our next game is the Thursday night in Elma Logan. Seaforth had seven minor penalties, 'while Clinton had seven minors and one mis- conduct. The Midgets were travel- ling to Elma Logan Dec. 8 and Brussels Dec. 9 before their next home game against Blyth on Tuesday. Dec. 15 in Vanastra. In the four regular "season games, the midget's record is three wins and one tie. Seaforth has outsocred its opposition 26-15. capable of playing. They came out skating hard and never looked back, as the score indicates. Mike Betties stole the show in the game by scoring five goals and skating super hard for the entire game. Pat Murray picked the spot for four goals, and an especially pretty one on a breakaway with a high shot in the•top left hand corner. Single goals went to Terry Craig and Ron Pryce. who was busy assisting on five of the other goals. Ron has proven to be an excellent playmaker and he and Pat compliment each other on their line. All in all it was a 100 per cent effort from the whole ;team. Next weekend the team travels to Brussels for an 8:30 game. Friday evening, and hosts Wingham Vanastra on Saturday at 6 •13.m.
