Loss spurs Seaforth novice
team on to win 3 - 3
A black cloud fell over the
Seaforth Novice Hockey this
past weekend. The players
know now what its like to
suffer the "agony of defeat."
The boys played in Mitchell
Friday night and were defeat-
ed 3-2. Scoring for Seaforth
were Kevin Cardno, and Brad
Schroeder. The team didn't
show the same spunk that has
been evident in its other
games.
This first loss, maybe
proved beneficial as they
came back the next day and
won against Elma Logan 3-2.
The children played a much
better game. Scoring for
Seaforth were Danny
McNanghton, and Brent
Vanden Akker (2).
It doesn't seem to take long
for even these young players
to learn about positioning.
They know that one forward
has to be in front of their
opponents net when the play
On Saturday morning Dec.
5 the Seaforth pee wees
hockey teams outskated and
outplayed Exeter and played
good .positional hockey for a
4-1 win.
••4, Thanks to the solid
defensive work of Greg
Scroggs, Duane Price and
Paul Henderson the Seaforth
goalies had little work to do.
Kevin Cooper was up to his
old hat tricks again in this
cOntest, netting three goals
with assists by Patil Murray
and Gregg ' Seroggs. Dan
Primeau opened the scoring.

is an that end. And the
, defence is doing the same in
our end, helping out the
goalie.
Last Tuesday Dec. 1 the
Seaforth midgets hockey
team hosted Clinton and won
7-5.
Jim Campbell paced the
attack with three goals and
two assists. Dave Murray had
two goals and one assist, and
John Dale had one goal and
two assists. Kevin Melady
scored a single goal. Dave
Campbell and Dave Mc1.1-
wain had single assists.
Seaforth had a 5-0 lead at
one point in the game but
hung on for the vieforv.
only to .have-- Exeter come
back on a breakaway goal to
tie the score 1-1 at the end of
the first period. But . the
Seaforth lads never looked
back. They skated hard and
backchecked relentlessly for
the remainder of the game.
Next game is Dec. 19 at 9 a.m.
against Mitchell.
On Dec. 1 Seaforth pee
wees hockey team continued
their winning streak by 'de-
feating Mitchell 4-2. Pat
Murray opened the scoring
for Seaforth assisted by Joey
Smith. Mitchell evened 'the
score with a goal by Dennis
Pauli. At the end of the
second period, Murray
scored again on a goad
passing play from Ron Pryce
and Joey Smith. Terry'Gray
and Ron Pryce finished the
scoring in the third period in
what was a rather lack lustre
gaine.

Seaforth had seven minor
penalties, 'while Clinton had
seven minors and one mis-

ling to Elma Logan Dec. 8 and

next home game against

capable of playing. They
came out skating hard and
never looked back, as the
score indicates. Mike Betties
stole the show in the game by
scoring five goals and skating
super hard for the entire
game. Pat Murray picked the
spot for four goals, and an
especially pretty one on a
breakaway with a high shot in
the•top left hand corner.
Single goals went to Terry
Craig and Ron Pryce. who
was busy assisting on five of
the other goals. Ron has
proven to be an excellent
playmaker and he and Pat
compliment each other on
their line. All in all it was a
100 per cent effort from the
whole ;team. Next weekend
the team travels to Brussels
for an 8:30 game. Friday
