Members of the Stanley unit of the U.C.W. made a quilt at the home of Mrs. D'Arcy Rathwell last week. Friday a meeting was held and Mrs. Rena Baird con- . ducted a worship. The theme was: What we do with our talents? The secretary read the minutes and the roll call. The offering was received and prayer closed the meet- ing. Mrs. Bothwell served -a delicious lunch. The next meeting will be at the church at noon on Wed., Dec. 16. • On Sunday morning a - white gift service was held with the members of the happy hour group assisting Rev. R. McMullen the lead- ers Mrs. McGregor and Mrs. Cooper from Kippen. A former Bayfield coun- cillor, and realtor in that area. was sentenced to four years in prison in court at Goderich Thursday. Milton Van Patter, 54, was convicted the week before by Huron County Judge F.G. Carter for de- frauding seven area residents of $88,000.
