Members of the Stanley
unit of the U.C.W. made a
quilt at the home of Mrs.
D'Arcy Rathwell last week.
Friday a meeting was held
and Mrs. Rena Baird con-
. ducted a worship. The theme
was: What we do with our
talents? The secretary read
the minutes and the roll call.
The offering was received
and prayer closed the meet-
ing. Mrs. Bothwell served -a
delicious lunch. The next
meeting will be at the church
at noon on Wed., Dec. 16.
• On Sunday morning a -
white gift service was held
with the members of the
happy hour group assisting
Rev. R. McMullen the lead-
ers Mrs. McGregor and Mrs.
Cooper from Kippen. Next
Sunday the Sunday school
concert will be at 2 p.m.

Thursday. Milton Van Patter,
54, was convicted the week
before by Huron County
Judge F.G. Carter for de-
frauding seven area residents
of $88,000.

about preying on the villages
and towns of southwestern
Ontario. He described Van .
Patter, who arrived in Hay-
field six years ago, , as a
trusted, iactive and successful
community citizen who was
"actually a wolf in sheep's.
clothing."
