The Centenaires dominated play in the third but were only able to beat Lucan goaltender Dan Seen on one occasion. Trailing 4-2 in the last minute of the game the Centenaires yanked goalie Dan McClure in favour of an extra attacker but the move backfired as the Irish scored. John Hicknell scored both goals, for the locals who were outshot 45-28. The Irish pep- pered 23 shots at the Centen- aire duo of Dan McClure and Wayne Bennewles each turn- ed An spectacular perfor- mances (as usual) and could not be faulted for the goals that beat them. The Centers. ekes picked up a total of 26 minutes in penalties compar- ed to 22 for the Irish. The second defeat of the week came alike hands of the lowly soiitftern division Mt. Brydges Bulldbgs, Saturday night in Mt. Brydgei.. The Centenaires again were with- out several players due to sickness. injuries and other events. The locals were be- hind 3.2 after the first frame but gave up three unanswer- ed goals in thesecond to fall behind 6.2. The third frame. saw the locals outplay their opposition butthey were only able to score two goals to make the final score 6-4 in favour of the Bulldogs. The We have a very, active Ringette system in Seaforth and the girls have a great time. The Jr. Ringette team travelled to the Howick arena on Sat. Nov. 21. Despite a very hard fought game. they were defeated 7-3. The girls played a good game and have shown a lot of improvement in each of their games. Scoring for Seaforth were Lisa O'Dwyer. Chris Campbell and Tammy Taylor. Jane Rowcliffe played for the first time and shows great pro- mise. Seaforth played host to Goderich on Friday Nov. 29. in Vanastra. Allyson Scott and Lori Harvey shared dut- ies in goal. It was an up and down game. First, the team was leading, then Goderich, but we came through vietori- r l- ing in the third period with David McLlwain adding 2 more to the score Witt. This gave 'Seaforth the score of 6-2. Excellent goal tending by Raymond Anstett and Steve Stapleton. Seaforth had 16 min. in penalties while Mit- chell only had 8 min. Seaforth Bantams travelled to Mitchell on Nov. 30. Seaforth overpowerd Mitch- ell shutting them out 610. Scoreri were Dave Mclwain and Kevin Melady, 2 gnats each. while Pat Murray and Chris Cardno each tallied once. Goalies Raymond An- stett, and Steve Stapleton played very well, recording the shutout. The Seaforth :Midgets e- merged ,viith a 7-4 victory over Mitchell last Tuesday in Vatiastra. John Dale led the way with ' two goals while single gosh were scored by unanswered goals to take a 5-2 lead. The Centenaires scored early in the third period to' cut the lead to 5-3. they then went for their nightly nap and by the time they awoke 'the Braves had pumped in three more goals to rage the final score 8,3. Scorers for Seaforth were Lisa O'Dwyer (3). Kendra Papple (2) and Tammy Taylor ( I ). We had a number of girls playing The Seaforth Novice hoc- key team is maintaining its winning streak. On Sat. Nov. 21 the novice team played host to Brussels in the Vanastra arena. Sea- forth won 5-0. Scorers for Seaforth were Jason McNic- hol with one goal and one assist, Brent Vanden Akker with two goals and one assist, Ted Sills and DougCampbell with one goal each. It takes a lot of teamwork to get the puck and player in scoring position. Jeff Weber was right in there digging, and came up with two assists. Also helping to set up the goals were Adam Quipp. Steven Papple„ and Dwayne Pryce. ' Jason Beuttenntiller play- ed another.. good game in goal, On Friday winning Nov. 27 the team played in Brussels. The children were really up for this game. There was just no holding them back (even if it meant an occassional off- Dave Murray, Gerry Wright. Dave McLlwain, Todd Doig, and Jim Campbell. Tom Turner. John Dale, Gerry Wright and Jim Camp- bell chipped in with two assists each. John Dale added one assist. The Midgets were without regular defensemen Rob Core and Gerard Ryan. Four bantams were used in the gaMe. Kevin Melady. David McLlwain, Kevin Williamson and Greg Murray, and they all played good games. Seaforth had 8 miner pen- alties and a misconduct while Mitchell was assessed 8 mi- nors and one major. Centenaires were Mike Kelly Ian Wig and Bob Mommer- steeg. Dan McClure played his usual strong game in the Seaforth nets but was given very little help from his defencernen. The Centenailits "are idle until this Friday night when they tangle 'the Port Stanley Lions in tienwi at 8:45. On Sunday night they travel to exeter for an 8 p.m contest with the Hawks. for the first time- Rhonda McAllister, Laurie Crocker. and Angie Reid. They played very well. Mark Smale, back after hav- ing his tonsils out, managed to get an assist as did Kevin McLlwain, Ted Sills, Brad Schroeder and Jeff Weber. The boys play this Sat. Dec, 5 at 4 p.m. in Mitchell and Sunday at 2 p.m. in Vanastra against Elma Logan. NEIL MITCHELL Neil played for the Brus- sels midgets last season, before joining the We-stern Junior D Hockey League's Seaforth Centenaires as a rookie this year. He's a goalie. Neil lives in the Brussels.Wilton area, and is a grade 12 student at Sea- forth District High School. • He's not hard to find on the ice because he wears sweater number 1. Other interests include skiing and baseball. He is 17 years old. Mitchell Bantams played against Seaforth in (Vanastra) on Nov. 24.
