The Exeter Hawks kept
pace with the front running
Tavistock Braves in Western
Junior D Hockey League play
as they edged the Seaforth
Centenaires twice in weekend
action. On Friday night the
Hawks scored six powerplay
goals enroute to a 7-4 home
ice victory.' Exeter led 2-1
after the firat 'period and
As the score suggests, the
local lads had little difficulty
in outskating and outscoring
Wingham in their opening
game of the season.
Mike Betties started the
scoring spree by the end of
the game Ronnie Pryce, Blair
Beuerman and PatMurray all
had hat tricks. Dave Akey

second. The Centenaires out-
scored the Hawks 3-2 in the
final frame.
John Kernick and Pete
Tuckey paced the Hawk of-

McLlwain was the big spark
ler the Centenaires as he
Bettled pieked off another.
Singles went to Terry G ray
and Joey Smith. It was not a
difficult game and the boys
had plenty-of time to execute
their passes, and play good
positional hockey.
SEAFORTH 11 CLINTON 1
On November 21, the Pee
Wees came out skating hard
and fast and scored six quick
fired three goals and added
one assist. Bob Mommer-
steeg had the other goal and
picked up three assists. Of
the four Centenaire goals two
were on the powerplay while
the other two were short-
handed efforts. The Cente-
naives were outshot in the
game 44-20, and picked up 24
minutes in pens ties compar-
ed to 14 by the Hawks,
goals in the first five minutes
of the contest. However they
slowed down considerably in
the second and third periods
as Clinton fought back with
good skating and checking.
The local 'boys managed to
pick off 3 more goals in the
first period, but only 2 in the
second and were held score-
less in the third! A couple of
silly penalties didn't help
matters any, as Clinton con-
tinously tied Seaforth up in
their own end and checked
tenaciously.
The calibre of the C4th
boys' play in this game was
good but not comparable to
the league opener.
Hat tricks went to Pat
Murray and Ronnie Pryce.
Mike Betties hustled all
through the game and picked
off a pair while singles went
to Beutenmiller, Beuerman
and Akey. The team's next
scheduled game is Tuesday
December 1 at 6:30 in
Mitchell and the next home
game is Sunday Dec. 6 when
Brussels visits. Seaforth at
Vanastra at 4:30 p.m.
Come out and suport your
Pee Wee team. It's good
exciting hockey!
