The Centenaires and *IL
aren't theaanly people playing

There's a grows of seven and
eight-year-olds known as the
Seaforth Novice team. under
the leadership of coach Bill
Weber. who are giving their
best to the game.
There are 14 boys on the
team .this year. What they
tuck in skating skills they
make lap for in determination.

Friday in Milverton. Many
some good defensive playing
by his team-mates. Scorers
were Jason McNichol. Brent
VandenAkker. and Doug
Campbell. (1 hope I haven't
left anyone out. I should 'get
better with names as the
season goes on.)

After suffering three more
losses in the Western Junior
D Hockey League on the
weekend the Seaforth Ceti-
tensires must know by now
they have to play 60 minutes
of hockey instead of 40.
Although their play en_ the
weekend was much improved
it was one period in each.
game that beat them.
On Friday night they were
downed 5-2 by the defending
Ichampian Belmont Bombers.
In that gable the Centenaires
played two strong periods but
might just as well of stayed in
the dressing room for the
-third period with the excep-
tion of goalie Dan McClure....
Belmont outshot them 18-4 in
the third but managed only
two goals.
The third period Saturday
night was nearly the same as
4 the Exeter 'Hawks outscored
the Centenaires 3-0 in 'the
final frame to emerge as 6-3
winners. Despite that loss, it
was •by far the Centenaires
best effort of the season.
With a few breaka around
the net the Centenairescatild

weekend. They are in• Exeter
on Friday night for an 8:30
game while on Sunday they
play the same Hawks' in
Hensel{ in a 7:30 start.

London wins
Well we're back for a new
season.,The Seaforth Junior
aingette team started their
41981-82 schedule this past
weekend. We lost a number
of girls from last year's
championship team to the
senior's this year, and we
wish• them well. Our junior
team has some new recruits
that look very promising. We
may not have a championship
team as far as the number of

preliminary, but both of those

goal. Sunday, we travelled to
Goderieft. This time the score
was in our favour, 5-2. We
had a well-oiled maciiine out
there on the ice. Our experi-
enced players showed what
their experience could do,

they're not afraid to scramble
in the corners, and fight for

' arena is operating smoothly
as the location for much of
Seaforth's winter ice sports.
