The mare now has her tail up and is lunging at her reins. '
Off comes' one rein. Off comes one of the tailings on

across the lawn just in time to save the entire back verandah
from ruin as the mare is still struggling to free herself and
get to her colt.
The dogs, having created enough havoc, signal to each
other the way dogs do, and trot happily down the road,
grinning to each other with. their tongues hanging out and
their tails waving goodbye.
I get the horse calm just as my daughter comes out the
back door. The mare,-still fidgety, decides to drop a two-day
load of manure on the outdoor rug at the back steps.
"Dad!" shouted my. daughter. "What's with that
tiller?"
Situation now all fouled up: SNAFU, as they used to say
in the navy. Or Fuban fouled beyond all recognition.
I should have observed the safety rules and not left that
lousy machine running when, I went to rescue the back
verandah.
Somehow, it slipped into gear or I had not put it fully into
neutral.
The tiller had taken off on its own, through a flower bed,
into an aspen, through the electric fence and was tearing up
the lawn.
When I got to it, after racing back across the lawn, I
foolishly grab, bed a handle. But I grabbed the metal part of
the handle which was touching the electric fence.

The Honourable GOrd

Walker, Minister of Co
miner and Commercial Re-
lations has stated that auto-
mobile insurance companies
won't be allowed to change
elderly drivers high prem- _
inns solely because of their
age. More than 250,000 of
Ontario's five million licen-
sed drivers are over 65, and
the Minister has said it is
"unfair and arbitrary" for
some firms to change more
and-to request medical certi-ficates from elderly drivers in
good health. Effective 'ink--

or to sell a new one solely on
the basis of the driver's age.
FOREST REGENERATION
PROGRAM
'Liberal Leader Stuart
Smith stated in the Legisla-
ture that the Ontario Govern-
ment. could have reforested
100,000 acres of Northern
Ontario forest for the $10
million it paid for a jet for
Premier William Davis. Dr.
Smith told the Legislature
that Ontario's forest regenet-
&ion program is falling
behind by 150,000 acres a
year.
He asked ' Natural Re-
sources Minister Alan Pope
why he approved the pur-
chase of the 16 seat jet for
Mr. Davis out of his budget.
Mr. Pope replied that the 510
million was•not taken out of
the regeneration program
but was added to his budget
by the Management Board of
the cabinet.
