sided for the Thanksgiving
meeting of the Marion Rita-
le Evening Auxiliary, 'in the
church basement on Tuesday
evening Oct. 20 with 14
ladies present.
The highlight of the even-
ing was the presentation of
life memberships, to three
faithful, members. Mrs. Ivan
Norris, Mrs. Norman Har-
burn and Mrs, Larry Gardi-
ner; Mrs. Alex' Miller read
the address and-Mrs. Lorne
Elliott made the presentat
ions.
. Mrs. Robert Laing gave
the scripture -lesson, reading
from Luke 17 verses. II to 19
follovied by prayer_by Mrs.
Kerslake.

a Garage Sale.
Mrs. Duncan Scott pre-
'bated the study book on
India, dealing with the dif-
ferent types of religions.

Pupil-teacher ratios in
both secondary and elemen-
tary levels are below estab-
lished figures. a report to the
Perth County Board of Edu-
cation showed.
In presenting Sept. 30
enrolment and staff figures -
to the board, superintendent
of instruction J.A. Richard-
son said elementary pupil-
teacher ratio is 20.97 to one
and the secondary ratio is
16.87 to one-.
Earlier this year, the-board
established an elementary
ratio ranging from 21.03' to
21.23. The secondary ratio

There were 10 teachers in
this category last year.
Board members also lear-
ned there are no- teachers

more than 170 students,
down from two teachers last
year.
