We attended the District
meeting at Kincardine this
past weekend and I will give
you the highlights of this
meeting. After listening to
all therepiprts by various
diairmen of different com-
mittees, the most important
of these concerned pensions
for the widows whose veter-
an husbands had been in
receipt of n.penaton at the
time of their diaths. These
pensions.have been reviewed
by the board and there are
increases, but they do have
to be applied for, So if you
know of any widow, of a
veteran who would be in this
category please let Cleave
Coombs- our pension officer
know.
The guest speaker was Iry
Snyder the, assistant Hon.
Treasurer ,,of Provincial
Command. Comrade Snyder
was the guest speaker at our
'veterans banquet two years
ego. His topic on Sunday was
based on unity and respect
for fellow- man. Something
this country had in wartime,
but seems to he missing
today. Comrade Len Dunkel,
our district commander
thanked Comrade Snyder
with well chosen words. The
spring meeting will be held in
Elora in April 1982. ,
Afthe general meeting
held last week we had-three
associate members. and one
regular member introduced
for membership. Phyliss
Brown, Cameron Holland
and Myrna Marie Driscoll
were accepted as associate
members and Michael Wit-
darn Owen was accepted as a
regular member- Congratu-
lations comrades, we hope to
see you at the branch soon.
The following is from the
membership committee, a
reminder that the early' bird
draw is on. Pay now and be
an -early bird winner. The
September draw winners
were Pete Jansen, Vivian
Newnham and Bill Alexander
As of Sept. 30 we have had
30 per cent paid members.
Remember your membership
committee consists of Al
Nicholson, Ken Cardno, Bob
Watson, Gar Baker, Larry
Broome and the bar steward.
To all you members not paid
up yet in town or out-of-
town, please send your che-
que to any. of the above and
your receipt will be forward-
ed to you immediately, and
be an early 'bird.
