St. Columhan Atom B played` Clinton Atom A on a rainy day at home and lost 6-1. Dave Kelly was our lone scorer. Meanwhile our Atom A team travelled to Clinton on Sept. 2 and beat Clinton Atom BS-0. Chris Hoegy andJamie Hill were our scorers. Huron Youth Soccer Assoc- iation (HYSA) Final Stand- ings are: Equitation' Susan Pullman of R.R. 4, Seaforth won the Mike Rose Trophy for finishing first in the junior (18-and-under) equitation class at the West- ern Horse Show at London Friday. She was competing against 11 other riders, The local 17-year-old had a busy week. Good pitching by Doug Leonhardt of the Travellers and Ets Delvecchio of the Turf kept the game scoreless until the top of the seventh inning. Neither team could mount any offense in a tightly played game. The Turf managed. only two singles off of Leon- h,ardt's pitching. Delvelcchio and Bob Schenck smacked singles. Each team played their parents. or family mem- bers, and most games ended in a tie. Due to the nice weather some parents were unable to attend. Those that did had an enjoyable day. Each game was followed by refreshments and a barbecue. St. Colum- ban Minor soccer executives would like to thank all those people and children who attended and participated • and. made- a-fun -occasion for all. Our teams still have two tournaments to play this season. St. Columban defeated San Bartolomeo Saturday 4-2 and in doing so got a strangle hold on first place in the LOndon and District Soccer Associa- tion's second division. With three games remaining in the schedule, St. Columban needs one win to clinch first place. Saturday's game saw St. Columban trailing in the early minutes, as San. Bartolomeo was awarded.. p,enalty shot, and took. 179.1iesr1. CqIumban was not to be outdone and Bill Docking scored to tie the game. Minutes later Tony Gibbings scored on a beautiful shot for a 2-1 St. Columban lead.
