It's been a ng summer of
hard work for three Grey
township students who have
been collecting information
and pictures on township
history in commemoration of
Grey's 125th birthday this
year.
Friday was the lait day 'for-
students Karen Ellsmore,

lege, has applied for a posit-
ion as a fitness instructor it

in regard to the students
getting information and pie-
ttlreS.
Now Karen Ellsmore will
be returning to Grade 13,
Debbie Rathwell, who is
just a few years ano and now
there, is talk that they will
ten down the whole
building, front and hack.
Since I don't have enough
details on the arena protect, I

limited: Michelle's solution
for more space Would, be to
use 4 field for parking cars.
Michelle feels that the
arena is too small for the
many uses it has. "I don't
think they need as many
seats, just More room for
skating and stuff." She
added the best bet for service
dubs to hold dances in town
would be at the high school,
especially the Junior Farm-
ers.
She said an arena in
Seirforth is important be-
cause "there's not much to
do and it isn't always easy to
get out of itown. If there isn't
an arena, teenagers will tour
in cars instead and get in
more accidents." "
ROLLER SKATING
Michelle said that she
uses the arena a lot for things
such as roller skating and
dances.
Judy Anstett, 'also of Sea-
forths feels that the arena is
not in • the best location.
"Build it somewhere where
there's more room. It's too
small now." Indy says. She
Dunbar. One of 'the things
the students have put to-
gether that Grey Township
' resident$ will be able to view
during Thanksgiving week-
end in October is a slide
presentation in a reminiscing
room. Some of the items the
students were going to put
on the slide presentation
included early settlements
and some of the century
some of those people.
The students also collected
"heaps of pictures" to go
with all the lots they've
researched and they alio
collected pictures to go with
old machinery,' ditchers,
steam engines as well as'
schools, churches„difforent
organizations, mission bands
and different athletic team, s.
The students also went to
London to the D.B. Weldon
library for records that
weren't available in the
township such as some of the
farms.
What the studeets _have,
been doing during this pro-
ject, according to supervisor
Marilyn Engel, is collecting a
lot of information including
researching every lot in Grey
from the 'Crown deed to the
present owner. As the weeks
developed they collected a lot
of information to go with
those lots such as family
trees,buildings. They check-'
ed the Brussels Post and
Huron Expositor for anythkg
to do with the people whose
names they found in God-
erich such as accidents, and
anything to do with buildings-
Front the. papers they also
got store advertisement;
manufacturer's advertise-

that advertisert used false
teeth for sale.
They went; through the
municipal boas and did a
complete 1isr& all the coun-
cils; They' looked at the
Tweedsmuir books, they in-
terviewed descendants of
pioneers and did tapes of
Grey to hold.
