took time out from the action on the diamond to
watch the parade pass by as the Vanastra and
District Lions and Lioness held their annual Fall
Fair last weekend. A good s4ed crowd turned
out for the event, which begah with r king and
queen contest Friday; and continued all day
Satiirday.

Hope Diane Ryan had a

The children also learned the '
English sport of cricket, and
played badminton if it wasn't
too windy'. The children
made party hats as part of
their craft, and some of these

week, the final week before
(ugh!) school, the children
are attempting to set some
tecordn.on World Record Dity
and, are bringing their
friends.
The trip-of-the-week on
August 19th was to Point
' Farms, Mini-Golf and Gode-
rich Gaol. The kids did pretty
weu at me mini-golf. As you
are reading this, the trip to
Canada's Wonderland is un-
derway, and the park is
about to receive a bus load of
eager kids.

prepared to cook the corn for sale at the
V4nastra Fall Fair Saturday afternoon.
NURSERY RHYMES COME ALIVE —
Probably the most interesting float in the
Vanastra and District Lions and Lioness Fall
Fair parade Saturday was the one entered by
the Vanastra Day Nursery, which featured
children dressed up as their favourite nursery
rhyme charadters. By the time the photo was
taken, Humpty Dumpty had already fallen and
Jack looked a bit too tired to be nimble.

gored a midget. boys softball
tournament at the fair' this
past weekend. Five midget
boys softball teams were
competing for lop spots in 2
divisions for TrOphy A and B.
,Friday night the Blyth
Team played, the Vanastra
boys, Blyth won 4-0. This put
Vanastra in the "B"
On Saturday morning
Blyth played Hohnesville
with Holmesville winning the
match 4-3 in sudden death
overtinie. The next game was
Monkton playing Londesbor0,
with ' Monkton winning 15-7
Putting them in "A" divis-
ion with HolMesville. Lond.
eaboro and Blyth Then played
for a sport 4h 'W division.
Londesboro edged out 1110
by 5.4. "A" championship
was played between Mine.
sville and Monkton. Holmes.
