In Peewee action the girls seem to be peaking just in .time for the season finale on August 22nd as they came up with back' to back victories- beating Goderich and then Goderich Township, The boys are having ale ass easy t late as the Allen's "A"s came up flat losing to the Goderich team while Radfords "Jays" also lost to the hard playing Colborne Township team. All s,untmer we could spend money on games, rides and midways. A lot of people do. For example, this yeaf everyone is trying out Can- ada's Wonderland. Although I haven't been there yet, I've heard a lot about it. The advertisements alone are enough to'-make you want-to see what allot the mystery is about. From what I've heard, Wonderland is a great place to go if you like roller coasters. A' day pass permits you to 'go on as many rides, as many times as you like snack bars and other amuse- ments as well., Kids might like to see -Hanna-Barbara land where all of their Satur- day morning, cartoon friends meet. There are dancing acts and other entertainments, castles and baildings. On a hot day it is the best place to be. If.you really feel wealthy. you could stay in Toronto for some of the older attractions. For instance, Ontario Place is a lotof fun to see. It has a big water slide you can slide down on foam mats. There is a children!s. village that covers two acres of super fun And .adyeneie for children from 4 to 14 years-old. As well 'as a maze, hanging ladder over a pool of water. and. slides there is a moon walk for kids to jump in. Besides these things. there is an out-door relict rink, a band shell, pedal boats, miniature golf, rest- aurant and souvenir shops. Ontario Place is 'a great place. Just a walk away from Ontario Place is the CNE (Canadian National Exhibit- ion). If you want fun this is the place to' ind it.. There's a midway with all'sorts of rides and games. a pinball arcade. bingo ' tents, , international buildings, the automotive building. animals: the CNE beaut% pageant. The grand stand features popular sing- ers and groups each night. RideS' are rides. They're fun, they're exciting, they're horrifying and they cost a lot of money. Moit people spend more , than half of their time at the' CNE on the midway And, need I say, half of their money. Pinball machines are also a fun way,,to watch your money fly-away. Blotter& games ,are becorning , more popular now than pinball machines. I have friends who can spend over ten dollars trying to outsmart a comput- er at 25c a try. , At the Seaforth Carnival this year there were .pinball-machines and electronic games in one corner of the arena. The most popular of these was the Puckman. It was a game where you had a Futkman who tried to eat, points but couldn't get eaten. It's hard to explain. But it proved to be a very nerve-wracking game. One guy I know spent a lot of time over at this game and learned how to beat the computer. he would get •right into the game and work up a sweat! Bell team travelled to Colborne and came away on the short, end of the searesheet and then saw their game against Goderich Township cancelled astheir opposition once again were no show. The evening -was -not art—entire loss as - Coach Brad Kennedy took the opportunity to stage an exhib- ition game of sorts. The girls tend a couple of somewhat overage midgets (Red "Fire- ball?' In the tournament the Ailboro team played three of their better games. On Thurs- day evening in their opener Winthrop Warriors knew they were in a ballgame as they edged Ailboro by a 10-6 score. This put Ailboro in the B Division where on Saturday Howard Cartwright faced, the minimum 15 batters as ..AII- boro posted an 11-0 5 inning . victory over VVestfield. Sun- day, saw the Aliboro team go into the seventh inning with a five run lead •and come out with a four run los' as Howson's erupted in a game ending rally. The game while being a tough one to. lose showed a remarkable im- provement on the previous trouncing of 23 to .4 Howson's had scored earlier in the season.
