Bode had dinner with Phyllis
Hinz at the Melting Pot in St.
Jacobs on-Friday, and went
to Conestoga to- visit Joe and
Marion Kirkey. They return-
ed hcime Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eick-
meier and Mr. and Mrs.
Arnold. Harris of Mitchell,
have returned home from a
trip-to the east coast.
Thelma passed humbugs
and Shirley peppermints for a
treat.

On Friday afternoon we
had our third Barbecue of the
season. The Menu was as
usual hamburgers and hot-
dogs, enjoyed by all, instead
of ice cream cones we had
watermelon and cookies. Our
cooksonthe staff were really
kept busy as firsts, seconds,
thirds, and some further were
requested which Spoke well
for the qualitY of the barbe-
cue. Debbie Dillon, a member
of the staff cane to a assist.
With her were her children,
Karen, and Bryan who enjoy-
ed themselves.
Carole Anne Glanville,
Darlene and Gary brought
their pen to amuse us with
their tricks, Toby, a white
poodle and Fritz, a black and
white small puppy and a
kitten borrowed from Patti
Muegge, for us to stroke also
Jiggs, a Labrardor retriever,
who did interesting tricks on
command, such as speaking,
dead dog, and roll over. All of
which were heartily applaud-
ed.
Thelma Bode passed out
Bingcreards and we had a few
games with winners; Straight
line, Mary Layton. Bessie
Smale, Anna Hoegy. Brian
Dillon helped Anna win her
Bingo as she doesn't usually
play the game. Oliver McKay

althought earlier it was
threatening. A special thanks
to our guest entertainers.

Denise, Brown, London,
brought her great grandmot-
her, Anna Hoegy, a bouquet of
rich red roses and Anna told
her to bring them to me which
she did. I have mentioned in a
former note that "roses turn-
ed me on". The more the
better for me. Denise. is 8
years old and pupil in trade

We had a very pleasant
chat in which she rose to the
occasion and seemed like a
child much older in years.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Smale
visited Bessie Smale on their
way from Midland where they
attended the funeral of Dr. R.
E. Smale, 93 years, the last of
that generation.

Staffa Womens Institute at
the home on Wednesday July
29 at 8:15 p.m. Guest speaker
for the evening was Mrs.
Wm. Taylor, Hensall, who
told 'about the difficulties of
being deaf. She said the
biggest handicap was com-
munication.
She explained how' their
son. Chad, had been deaf
since birth and the problems
and joy which they had
experienced working with
Chad. Mrs. Taylor was intro-
duced by Mrs. Miller and
• thanked by Mrs. Frank Ham-
ilton.

parents.
During business an invita-
tion to meet with Goulds

told that unless we become as

inspired by God. Marjorie
Powell is our most recent
resident and was here for the
service. Also Carol Anne
Glanville who was visitng me
with pet Toby and she and
Debbie Campbell remained
for the service.

pher. for us to rave about a
