Losing weight, is especially
difficult at lunchtime, since
so much food is readily
available, so the merits of a
noon-hour swim became very
obvious.

AS a 'FORTitar`
BY JOANNE RIMMER
Nine decades of life were
celebrated Sunday when the
sons and daughters of Isabel-
la Papple honoured her with
a 90th birthday party.
More than 25 people gath-
ered at her daughter's ( Mrs.
Doug (Edna) Simpson) home
in London to present her with
a cake.
In an interview shortly
before her birthday. Mrs.
Papple reminisced about
changes which have taken
place in her 90 years.
She was born in Hullett
township July S. 1891. dau-
ghter of Jane (Halliday) and
Robert Monk. On March 9.
1910. she married David
Papple and moved to the Mill
road where the couple farm-
ed for 36 years. In 1949. they
moved to the corner of Walsh
and Main streets in Seaforth
where Mrs. Papple now liv-
es. Mr Papple died earlier
this year
The Peoples had eleven
ehildron. tour 01 whom still
live in the Seaforttrarea. One
of their sons. Robert, was
Medan erseas in the Second
WorldWar at age 30. -At the
time he was the only single,,
One in her family. so he left
"to protect the others..Such
a waste, the war; so many
lost their lives, and no good
seemed to•come of it," said
MrS. Papple.
Mrs. Papple has 31 grand-
children and ' 41 great-
granchildren
' She received congratulat-
ions, from the Prime Minister
which she added „ to her
colleCtion of congratulatory
and the coaches are pleased
with the number "H we

Nevertheless, the meets

well, because the competi-
tion is very tough, according
to Marty. Kendra agreed
that there are very good
sw immers at each meet, and
each swimmer

must _perform
to Mils er best.
It is fortunate the pool is
mailable for these kids to
demonstrate their talents,
and that some people are
willing to take time to give
them the proper coaching.
Chief Claus urged in his
ttilumn last week that kids
use the supervised pool for
swimming to present ans
accidents. The pool has been
completely renovated. and
there are several times -for
kids to take adyantige of it.
