The Board's public relations committee
was under the chairmanship. of Audrey
McLlwain. This committee presented a
display at the Seaforth Fall Fair and gave
awards of service to Russell Worcien and .
Gordon Wright who retired from. the board
and staff respectively. Mention was made
by Mr. Rimmer of the "tremendous amount
of effort" contributed to Hospital held May
12.
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
Although the management committee did
not meet frequently until the latter half of
the year, Mr. Rimmer reported it has since
reviewed the administrator's job descrip-
tion, revised an organizational chart, set up
a procedure for handling any complaints,
established a policy with regard to, the
availability of administrative staff daring off
hours and utilized non-board members on
committees as resource persons.
The chairman's report said "it was a
trying year for Allen Searle (chairman of the
property committee) and his- committee."
Since the building and facilities are more
than 15 years old, many repair and
replacement problems are arising.. The air
conditioning system needs repair, but any
action will be delayed until long term needs
are assessed, reported Mr. Rimmer.

He explained staff was not reduced because
those involved were given other functions. A
much-needed maintenance workshop was
added to the hospital site.
The hospital has cancelled its contract
with Nutricare Ltd., which has supervised
and managed the dietary department for
several years and accepted dietary supervi-
sion and direction from the Shared Services
Committee from University Hospital, Lon-
don. Management costs will be less with this
system, and the hospital will receive the
services of a qualified dietician one day per
week, said Mr. Rimmer.
Mr. Rimmer also reported on the
conferences which he and other board
members have attended for the hospital.
The hospital administrator, Gordon Mc-
Kenzie, reported on policy changes which
have been and should be, made. He
mentioned new changei in the Public
Hospitals Act and commented on the
increase in the amount of paper work which
these would mean.
After listing other regulations which have
• been changed, Mr. McKenzie said this
"brings to light some of the changes that are
going to be'required of the board and staff in
developing and updating all the policies and
under the chairmanship of Maria Martell,
had a slow start, since it had to., establish its
goals and terms of reference, said Mr.
Rimmer. It is now directing its attention to
