Queens fell victim, to the big blue team losing by a 7-5 score as Queens never seemed to be quite in the game as numerous errors helped out the Villagers. Bill, Price led Viflage with four' singles and Mike Marion and Bob idcl(elidr had two hits each. Village scored two runs in the first and three in ',the third' to build up a lead. Queens made a brief come back in the late innings but eouldn't quite catch the league leaders. Jerome Au- started their comeback. tying the game at five apiece. Bob Montgomery started•the inning off with a triple and Bob Watson added another triple. Gary Montgomery singled. Terry Craig tripled. Collin Young walked and Newt COlins followed with a double to even the score. In the bottom of the sixth Bob Montgomery again led off with a single and scored ona with a single and scored on a hit by Bob Watson giving Teachers the 6-5 victory. In Monday night's action B.P. Bears scored, a b-5 victory over Turf Club. puih- ing across the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. B.P.Bears opened strong- ly. scoring four runs in the first inning.Jitohn Strongway. and Don Williamson had bunt singles, followed by a Murray Bennewies double., Bob. Dinsmore then singled and Randy Gridzak doubled to give the Bears the early lead. Sl abtown • winners This past weekend proved to be very successftil for the Slabtown Slammerettes as they both hosted and won the second annual Slabtown La- dies Slo-pitch Tournament in .Brodhagen. There were twelve area teams entered in the donble knock-out , tourney. which • saw Sebringville place second, Manley Masherettes third and Winthrop Road- runners fourth, The Slammerettes made it -all the way to the finals undefeated, only, to loie to Sebringville 8-6. Because. it was a double knock-out. and both final teams had lost only one game-each. they had to play a second match immedi-, ately after. That game was close all the way to the end. but Slabtown managed to come out on top 2-1 to take top honours in the tourney, Organizers were very pleased with the result of the weekend, as good weather and large crowds made it a success, This week the 2 St. Col- umban Atom teams played each other in an exciting game on Tuesday June 16. Raymond Murray for the Atom B team opened the scoring but a little later Jamie Hill tied it up for the A team. The A team continued to scpred with Jamie Hill also scoring the next 3 goals putting the A, team 4-I ahead. However, the B team came back in the second half with David Kelly and , Ray- mond Murray scoring to end the game 4-3 in favor of the Atom A team.
