Here we are into the
month of June alkadsP! The
long .days. and, warm weather
make winter seem a distant
dream. Many local golfers
will really get into their game
this month, and they'll be
happy to know that there's a
busy golfing calendar.
There are many area tour-
- nartiefirS .1-One-for-both The
men and women. All of the
posters are at the proshop
and we encourage our golfers
-ro- -participate in the tour-
naments at other clubs. It is a
great way. to spend a day.
You get to play 'a different
course, meet' new people.
and have a nice meal, not to
mention a shot at the prizes.
And remember as one lady
said to me once, thankGod
you don't have to win your
supper. The junior tourna-
ments don't get underway
until July when school is.out,
but there are many planned
for the summer.
Locally. there are a num-
ber of events going on this
month, for both members
and guests: To Start off on
Saturday afternoon the sec-
ond annual Midsummer
Madness. Mixed Two-Ball is
on: This, is a great time for
everyone because you don't
know your partner until tee-
off Iirne and then you both
take turns hitting the same
ball. After the golf there's a
pot luck supper in the club-
house, followed by a dance .
We want everyone to join us.
and if you're not a member.
come anyway. For the prti.:e
of a green fee you can have a
fun time!
Sunday afternoon there is
another small 2--bart pin on
for the staff of Anstett Jewel-
lers. so members should
come out early to avoid the
rush.
Men's, night is on again
tonight and the success of
this weekly gathering speaks
for itself. The leader board
has over 40 names on it. Last
week Cam Doig's 35 and
Doug Proctor's 49 was good
enough to defeat the remain-
der of the field. I sure wish I
didn't have to write little
brothers name in this column
every week. Cam is well up
,on the leader board, but
there's still plenty of time to
catch him.
On Monday night the
ladies will be golfing again
and these will be a prize for
the funniest T-shirt. After
the .golf there 'will be films
shoOin in the clubhouse.
These golfing films are pre-
sented courtesy of the
O.G.A. Ladies are reminded
that on Tuesday. June lb the
better ball is played in Kin-
cardine. Anyone who wants
to go should find a partner
and let me know as soon as
possible. Also on Wednesday
June 24 there are ladies
tournaments in Wingham
and Mitchell so keep that
date in mind....
On Wednesday night at 9
p.m. the junior members and
friends are , invited to the
clubhouse for a free film
night. Afterwards we will
discuss the junior program
fork the' summer. We are
planning tournaments, clin-
ics and a trip to the Canadian
Open. All girls and boys 18
and under 'are welcome to
come out on Wednesday for •
the films and meeting whe-
ther you're a member or not.
Junior golf week is June
represent, us in the Optimist
golf tournament. This tour-
nament, sponsored by the
Optimists, will send the

something for the youngsters

the match play and 'also to

pating should .all me right
