The Lions Club is improving the grounds so the parlt.can accommodate more baseball (Photo by Rimmer) Alificiugh the welifiTer may fool us occasionally. each day brings niore and more. signs of summer's approach and we.', in Sea- forth, have a variety' of outstanding facilities to satis- fy a wide range of outdoor interests: In particular are our. three parks, Optimists, -Victoria and Lions, and each has something unique and special to offer. The value of Victoria Park just east of the centre of town 0 be-evident-in--the-trumber--- of events and minor changes which will take place this year. After. a single, .successful Farmers' Market in 1980. the town's recreation committee . hax•platined a series of four for this year. They will be run on Saturdays on successive months beginning June 27. and .following on July 25. August 15 and Sept. 12. The markets rum from 9 a.m. to 2' p.m. and feature food booths and arts and crafts displays. AFso it is hoped Victoria Park. as in previous .sum- mers, will host a weekly program of band concerts. Details are still being 'arranged. but the concerts May run.on Sunday evenings throughout July And August. And at its last meeting. Seaforth town council voted to purchase and install anew fountain for *drinking in the park. The fountain is unique in that it is accessible to handicapped people. The Optimist' Park. in the south se"etiolf OfSetiforth. is a bonus for ball players. and already seasons are, well underway, • for several, leagues. It's an odd summer evening when you'll drive by the park and not Ste action goitig on. ' The ball diamond. outfitt- ed with liglits for night play. is complinffinted by a' field house and a food booth. The Lions Park. at the eastern Limits . of town, fea- tures a swimming poll. ball park and picnic facilities. Both the ball oliamondand •the pool are currently under- going a facelift, which should Only serve to enhance an already attractive site. The park. which sits on the edge Zit' Silver Creek. has long been the hoMe of the annual Lions Summer Carn- ival. Music. markets, sports and barbecues. They're all availble right here in Sea- forth 'at our excellent parks., Enjoy, enjoy. Seaforth: moves .outside For baseball, swimming or a quiet rest in any of our parks ' VICTORIA PARK — The park, located in the centre of town, is used by people Who wish to enjoy peace and quiet at dinnertime, or by others who stroll dpwn to the park at dusk.
