Chasing the. dream..
In one way or another I suppose we all piddle away some
of our time trying to figure out why the wonderful
American dream has managed to avoid us for so long.

could not have been fluctuating around IS per'cent in
1850), The myth,,-then, is somewhere on the farm'S
hills, but most likely in the orchard, old Mr. Bran interred
his stash in a little metal box. And, being a dutiful father
and husbaod, he informed the family it was buried near
the tree. There are only a couple thousand to chose from.
To find it of course would be virtually impossible, if it
exists at all. Unless you come up. with a metal detector.
Well, it turns out a mutual friend, an economist from
Toronto, has one (though the reason for that ,mystifies me).
So the hunt is on.
LIMITLESSVALUE
Undoubtedly. things will be uncovered. - nails, bottle
caps and other items of limitless value. In 130 years.- a lot
of assorted junk has surely found its way into the ground.
It helps, too, that the owners before my brother cOnsidereci
the property a private dump and littered the land with
some of the most useless trash, imaginable. The surface
junk has since been hauled away but its remains, too, are
likely hidden in the ground.
So there it is. If we find the metal • box (which I am
convinced does not exist) then 1 am entitled to a share
.(about .00005 per cent. knowing the brother) after the
mortgage is paid off.

always happens.
A BLIZZARD'
And so. on Easter weekend. like a w elcome Iota native
son returned home, nature was there with its greeting. •
Actually, it happened on the way back south, in the'
ridiculously fertile snowbelt betty een Parry Sound and
Barrie. As if to say, "well give you something to
remember us by", we were greeted w ith a blitzard w ith
the gusto of mid-winter. It meant. driving at the
dangerously fast speed of 40 kilometres per hour.. tops.
The point is well taken. It's an identity the northe has,
worked hard to develop, and I suspect the blast of snow
was both a farewell and reminder'that November is only
six months away.
