The editor of the paper was a young mate Richard F.
, Matthews. "who had just passed his majority • • and he a as
responsible both for the writing a n d printing of the Echo,
One of Mr. Matthew's first changes in the paper's
format was• 1the switch to pink newsprint, giving the
London Echo a look which couldn't be con-fused with the
city's more--staid daily newspapers.
ASSORTMENT
In 1§90, Mr. Talbot's paper assails. a bright pink., and it
carried a wide assortment' of nett s and advertisements.
Dinican used the paper to inform its r'castcri,
that she "embalms natural' rimers in all the latest
designs-'-' while R.F. Lacey and Co. informed the public
they were the place to shop for a "good y ;disc.!'
Other noteworthy features tai the paper included a young
folks column., the Curiosity Shop, a column combining
advice on everything front home remedies and household
cleaning hints to stories on recent scientific
around the world.

quilt top, in the diStinctive bear's paw pattern, was dohated to the Van
Egrnond Foundation recently by Belle Campbell. The quilt was made by.'
:Miss Campbell's mother in the pre-1981 .period,, but never finished, Lait
week local quitters (left to right) GraceBroadfoot of Seaforth, Agnes Eyre
of EgmoridvilleatidOorothy William's of R.R. 4, Clinton, started quilting
the bed ,cover which will be the prize at this fall's Ciderfest draw.
