WIlgta Whitt the- office tbsyrite my column. I go upstairs where there is one darkroom and ,.a little deSit aii6 a tong desk.. 'nits is where I usually write my column. On this particular day they decided to take out the "stairs leading to this office. Boy. ,foes that help a writerV block. Well, there was noway on this earth that I could get upstairs to write my column, so I stood there questioning using my special powers to fly upstairs to write. Natdrally someone came to my rescue and suggested that I write my column with Herb Shoveller and Alice Gibb in their office. This idea did not succeed as both were using their desks and their type- writers. Where to now? Home. I thought that the only solution to this problem was to go home where there was no hammering or sawing other than my brother hitting his head against the wall and my mother trying to cut through a' frozen loaf of bread. Once at home I found the TV too tempting and sat down to watch MASH and The Price Is Right. Then it was dinner-time and, still I had no column written. figured I had lots of time to .wrile.after,dirtner and nothing to worry about. Once dinner was over, 1 went to my bedroom to •do homework which everyone knows is hopeless when each teacher _ piles on the .homework and • the radio is on. You get completely confuteduiisiben the song —Shut ups' Your Face" is On and you are -reading the "Merchant of Venice.'„,.' The, two certainly do not mix well. Finally I am finished my homework in time for Little House On the Prairie, I watch that ,for a while and go to bed after that and a few other programs. Well, ;what happened to my column? do it in the morning, before I go to sehobl. As you might have expect- ed. I wake up the next morning at 8:130. a.m. which leaves no time to do a column'. on a subject ! haven't even chosen yet., Butt have noth- ing to worry about because I can always write it at lunch time. LUNCH TIME Lunch :time rolls around and I am informed that we are suppose& to sell oranges during• lunchtinie to the neighbours of the high school door-to-door. Well that blows that idea of writing at lunch time. but 1 still rely on the Surveyor --Th .,00. The new stairs ark now win at a rieiv loeatiOn. a few feel from where they Once stood but someone was kind enough to inform me that if I went up the stairs, it would not take hall as long to come down them again as they probalby wouldn't still be ail there. Now that same nagging question, where do I write? It is pOssible that I could use the editor's desk for the half • hour it would take me but will all 'of the confusion that the construction is causing, everything is dumped on h t desk and there is no .way ,s f clearing a space to write without using a dump truck.. Everyone else's desk is the same way. Well, I could write on the- . floor but that would be a little bit uncomfortable after the half hour was up. Someone suggestes that ,I take a typewriter into' an' empty office that was not empty at the time, Naturally. they suggest that I go into another. office. Meanwhile I have this heavy typewriter in my arms and I'm suffering a minor hernia carrying it, After going' from office to office-looking for somewher.to set the load I finally find somecinewhowill give up —their; office and.; typewriter as they were just leaving anyway. • ' Great. Then h try , 65 type .with the constant hammering - -acrd sawing of the w-orkinen in the hail and start writing a column about the only thing on my mind. The hole in the wall that is now filled in and' no longer a hole because it is a filled-in hole. The whole situation at the Expositor is, as Crazy as the last sentence but soon •will • be gorgeous and look beautiful, they keep telling me. Well, the eolumn is almost finished and the noise. is still driving me 'nuts.
