A. special meeting of the- town council was held'on Monday morning to consider -what action would be taken in connection with supplying power for the waterworks. All the members were .present. The lease between the town and E' • Rockey was read. It was dated January '1st, 1880. The lease was to the effect that Mr hockey or his successors had to keep the dam in repair; and if they would not do so, the town could do the re- pairing, and charge to the owners of the dam and collect taxes, which were under the agreement exempt. The Mayor and Councillors talked the matter over and all agreed that something would have to be done at once in the way of supplying temporary power to run the waterworks machinery. On motion of Messrs McKenzie and Mc. Woo, the Clerk was instructed to notify the Messrs Carr Bros of the loss of the dam, and also asking them to put the same hl repair within a reasonable time. llloved by L W Hanson, seconded by A J Irwin, that the Mayor and Waterworks Committee be instructed to coinmunicate with the Goldie & McCulloch Co at Galt with rogard to temporary power for water- works of the town,and if necessary they to employ an expert -Carried, Moved by Geo McKenzie, seconded by A J Irwin, that we now adjourn to meet at the call of the Mayor -Carried.
