BAYFIELD RD. CLINTON 482-3431 =fs All Children's Legion lawn bowling set for Friday night Sorry we didn't have a column last week but owing to the holiday weekend, Friday was the deadline for submissions, and it came and went without me. When you are retired all weekends are seven days long. Our Branch Golf Tournament had a good number of entries but owing to the wet day, there was only one foursome that completed the eighteen holes. Most of us were like drowned rats when we came-off the course. After retiring to the Legion the prizes were given out and steaks were barbecued to end the day. Maybe next year the weatherman will co-operate. The Zone tournament was held last Saturday at Goderich, with four teams entered from Seaforth. Rain again marred the game for those with. the early tee-off times but the afternoon was pleasant for golf. W e had two teams qualify to play in the District which will be held in August at Owen Sound. We hope they will be successful in getting a berth to the Ontario Finals: At the Diamond Jubilee meeting a couple A famous play returns to roots A play written about Goderich Township that went on to become world famous is returning to its roots this summer. The Farm Show will have 10 performances in the Goderich Township shed between July 11 and 19 as part of the township's 150th birthday celebrations. Originally conceived, written and pro- duced in 1972 by Passe Muraille, a Toronto-based theatre group, the play went on to major theatres in Canada, including the Stratford •Festival and the National Arts Centre. It subsequently toured the British Isles, became an award-winning motion picture, and was the subject of a CBC television documentary. Many of the original cast, including director Paul Thompson and cast members Anne Anglin, Miles Potter, David Fox, and Fina M acDonnell, who have since gone on to starring roles in theatre, television, and film, will be returning for the revival. Based on the lives of residents of the Goderich Township and Clinton areas, The Farm Show was enthusiastically received by area audiences when it premiered in the Ray Bird barn on that hot August day 13 years ago; Sesquicentennial Committee members are sure the play will be just as warmly received this summer. The show will run every evening at 8 p.m., July 11 - 19, with matinees on July 14 and 17 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for children and may be purchased at the following local ticket outlets: HOLMES- VII1F Holmesville Store; SEAFORTH - Bob and Betty's Variety; BLYTH - Blyth Festival Box Office; CLINTON - Campbell's Men's Wear; GODERICH - Phil Main Dominion Hardware; BAYFIELD - Sear's Counter - Village Market.
