Helen Nolan on behalf of the Catholic Women's League presented each student with a plaque. Knights of Columbus awards for the most cooperative and willing students was pre- sented by Leon Maloney to Karen Murphy and Chris Maloney. Dublin Lion, Warren Bennewies presented an award for best effort to Dave Kelly and Karen Murphy. The attendance award went to Chris Maloney and the Sports Awards went to Steve Balfour, Rob and Terry Sloan. The Sportsmanship Asvard to David Cronin, Best Male Student to Ken Ryan,- Best Female Student to Marianne Moylan, Most Courteous to Patti Maloney, and Most Improved, to Lori Cronin. Dave Kelly was valediCtorian for the class and reviewed memories with classmates during their eight years together in school. The evening concluded with a dance for the graduates and grade seven students and a game of cards for the parents and teachers at the school. °Fro) BUDAPEST • Don Melady, son of Ted and Frances Melady and a second year University of Western Ontario medical student was one of nine medical students chosen from across Canada to take part in the fifth annual its graduat ion St. Columban Correspondent MRS. CECILIA RYAN • 345-2028 Graduation exercises for Grade 8 students of St. Columban school were held Tuesday, June 25. The graduation mass was celebrated at 14 a.m. by Father Andrew Sipek and former pastor Father Henry Cassano. At 7 p.m, the P.T. A. and the Grade 7 students served a dinner in the parish hall. Jason Schoonderwoerd', master of cere- monies welcomed the guests and called on Father Andrew to say the grace. Following the dinner Carolyn Miland was called on to introduce the guest speaker, Fran Craig of Seaforth, who was no stranger to the graduates. Mrs. Craig taught the graduates congress of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War to be held this week in Budapest, Hungary. Don, who left last week, is a member of the London • chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility, a group of doctors and medical students trying to help prevent nuclear war by educating the public and governments about possible health 'eonse- quences. About 600 physidans from 60 countries will gather for the four-day congress being held for the first time in a Warsaw pact country.
