Farewell Banquet. --The banquet
tendered Dr. Agnew, who shortly
leaves the village to .pursue his studies
in Europe, was very enjoyable. The
managing committee certainly out
did themselves and their efforts were
crowned with success. About 150
invited guests were present and sat
down to a supper, most tastely arid
Prettily arranged. After all bad
partaken most heartily pf the good
things, which our ladies know so
well how to provide, the crowd ad
journed to the upper hall, where the
evening was spent,in speech -making
and toast drinking. Mr. Jas. Snell
very ably filled the chair and pro-
posed the first toast, which was to
the "Queen," to which all heartily
responded by singing "God Save
Our Queen." The second toast,
"Dominion Parliament and ,Legisla-

Legislature," was proposed by Mr. A. Wood-
man, the response was given by Dr.
Shaw, of Clinton. Miss Elva Adams
sang a solo, which was heartily ap-

very interesting addrese on dairying.
Mr. Melville enlivened the proceed-
hugs by a selection on the violin.
"Our Guest,' the health and suc-
cess of Dr. Agnew, was proposed by
Rev. Mr. Andrews. All heartily
responded by singing "He's a jolly
geed fellow." The doctor expressed
his regrets at leaving our viliage,-
'where he had the confidence
and sympathy, of so many friends.
He felt sure that his place would be
more thee filled by hissuccessor, Dr.
McCallum. He is a graduate of one
of the best colleges in Canada, has
spent a year in the hospitals and is'
thoroughly wedded to his profession.
Miss S. Hill. sang "My maid in the
moon." Mr. Lowery proposed the
"Educational interest," coupled with
it were the names of Messrs. FMr
and Lennox., after which the mouth
organ band', rendered some very
appropriate music. "The teleran.

response, which was not lacking in
humor. "Railways at,d nl transpora-
