can't really see the yeast, but

mass,.The church in Canada,

hill, with news of its activ.-

media.
At the Dohoku Centre in
Nayoro, the church has con.
siderable influnce on young
rural people through its
Three Love Schools with ,
their threefold theme of Love
for God, Love for Man, and
love for the Soil. Non-
Christians attend the daily
Bible study sessions, and
have a great deal of respect
for the "guides for living"
taught in the Bible.
Rob and Kaiko led in the
singing of ttwo Japanese
songs. The junior girls choir
sang "There Were Twelve
Disciples", and the anthem
"I'm Blessed by God's Love'

assume the office of presi-
dent for the region next year,

Ruby Triebner of Brucefield.
The, 1979 Fall Rally is to be
held in Varna.'

asbord was served in the
Sunday School room of Varna
Church on Wednesday eve,
ning. People ffom all of the
surrounding towns and vil-
lages attended. Fran Carp-
enter of London has come to
our supper for ten con-
secutive years, which is
probably a record for—anyone
from that distance._
Brian Chessell, who had
surgery in Clinton Hospital
on Wednesday, returned
home on Saturday.
Bill and eleanor McAsh
moved into their completely
renovated home on Saturday.
With the lovely 'new sur-
roundings, all that hard
summer's -wOrk will seem
worthwhile.
Rob Witmer, a fornier
resident of Goderich, and at
present a theology student in
.Toronto, was the guest
speaker for Goshen Church
anniversary. Rob graduated
from Queen's University,
Kingston in 1969 and went to
Japan as a short-term
missionary.
He became involved' as an
English teacher. at Hokusei
Gakuin in Hokkaido, and
with the help of his' wife
Kaiko, did evangelical work
in the coffee houses, particu-
larly in the Ark,
Before returning to Can-
ada he- was filling in for a
Canadian missionary couple
wo were on furlough, which
kept him very busy, as there
are 60 offices and churches in
Hokkaido., ,
Mr. Witmer compared the -influence-of the Christians in
Japan, who number less than
one tenth`of the population,
costume, as well as prizes for
the beit couple, a door prize

Anniversary Oct. 15. Special
music was provided by the
Choir assisted by Rev. and
Mrs. McMullen singing two
duets. The Sermon "Ai
Lasting Covenant" was
preached by Rev. McMullen,
the recently inducted
minister to the Brucefield
and Kippen Charges.
