West,, Huron South and Huron East. Mrs. Graham McNee, President of•Huron- West was chairman for the .day long 'session. The re- gistration was in ,charge of Londesboro W.I. and mem- bers were welcomed by their President Mrs. Tom Duizer. Greetings were brought from Huron-East by their piesident Mrs: John Free- man and Huron-South by Mrs. Grace Drummond, their president. The minutes were read by the Huron County Rally secreatary-treasurer, Mrs. James Armstrong. Huron-East, Mrs. Elva Jacques reported II branches, membership 265 • and I Junior Branch.; Huron South, Mrs. Michael Connel- l6y, 9 Branches membership 303 and Huron-West Mrs. Richard Buchanan, 12 • branches, membership 403. • The collection was received by Mrs. Donald Riehl,. Mrs. ' Allan Schram and Mrs. • Margaret McKenzie. Mrs. Meryyn Batkin, Clinton, • secretary of the Huron County Historical Society brought greetings and thanked the branches for making their curators members. She thanked the Branches for their' co- operation and also for spon- soring meetings during the year. ghe stated- that there are 179 members in the County and that young folk are becoming interested in, researching hiStory and use. the Archives room . at the Museum in the .making of family trees. A solo was sung by Miss Cecile Marquette of Blyth accompanied by Mrs. Del Phillip. Greetings were braight from the Federated Women's institutes., of Ontario by the two Board Members, Mrs. William Porter, Goderich and Mrs. Stewart , Anderson , of Strat- ford, of the Guelph Area. ' Mr. Richard Boonstra of the Huron County "Family - and Children's services gave a detailed reported on how the bursary money has been spent helping children over the age of 16 years who are crown wards of the Services . One girl is attending Christ- ian college, one hairdressing school and another young Man is completing his education. He stated that there are 43 child abuse problems in the County and spoke of the need_, for a preventative' program for physical and ;dental abuse of children, The members voted to again support 'fil'e Bursary and thi$ year it is 75 cents per .member.- The HUIon County Home Economists Miss Bea. McClenghan and Miss Grace Bird reported on the work done with the senior courses and the 4-H Homemaking Clubs. They reported that 115 had completed the course - ,Personalize your pattern and that 'the 4-H clubs had 1948 members complete their pro- , iects. They stressed the Decc;rating course in colour, design, wan coverings and window treat- ment and these are being held at Clinton, Oct, 25, Wingham, Oct. 26, Exeter on Oct. 31st and in the evening at the office at Clinton 7-10 p.m, on Oct, 26th. ' The guest speaker o'f the day was Mrs. Fred Howe of Entbro, the F.W.1,0: • curator of TWbedsmuir - History Books. She spoke on fibuse Logs and had two to illustrate her talk., She urged all to start their house Logs which is a history of the house and the story of the property. when built and bought by whom. Mrs. ,Nortnan Coaltes of Belgrave thanked Mrs, Howe and presented her with a gift. In the new business it was decided to award any girl who has completed 24 pro- jects. Mrs. Ivan Wight- "than spoke on the ploughing match thanking everyone for their excellent co-operation throughout the County. It was decided that the profit from the banquet be divided among the three districts and the other proceeds be kept after expenses paid.
