Joanne Groothuis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald
Gnmthuis of Seaforth and Jim Holland• son of Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Holland• were married in St. James' Roman
Citholic Church. Seaforth on August 12: The douhle ring
eo•entony was solemnized by Father Sullivan. The bride
was given in marriage by her, parents. The maid of honor
was Christine Grootliuis. sister of•the bride. Bridesmaid
were Rosemary Groothuis, also a sistett of the bride and
Willy Grootliuis and Judy Groothuis, sisters-in-law of the
btidc.. Miss Meagan Alkemade, niece of. the groom . was
flower girl. The ushers were Cam Hcilland, also a brother
of the groom and Jack Grootl uis and Hank Groothuis,
bmthers of the bride. Master obbic Groothuis, nephew of
the bride, was ring heart.. The organist was Maureen
Hutchinson with soloist .ludy Groothuis. The couple
honeyninoned on the East Coast and have taken up
residence in Egmondville.
Marianne daughter of John add Carrie Segeren of
Seaforth and Ralph, son of ken and Ruth Smith of
Egt$ondvilie, were married in St. James Roman Catholic
Church, Seaforth on June 17, The double ring ceremony
was solemnized by Pather Laragh and Reverend Roberts.
The bride was given to marriage by, her parents The.ntaid
of honour was Patricia Harrigan of London, friend of the
bride. Bridesmaids were Astrid bay of Lakeside, cotfsiti of
the bdde add Dianne Smith of >~gmondviller sister of the
groom M'elante Segeren, istar of the bride, was
'flowirrgtrl. The 'groomsman was Ron Dalrymple of
Hatttii'ton, friend of the groom 'The ushers were Glenn
Dolntage of 1#e1mont, friend of the groom and Jim Segeren .

presentatives from Zone 3 District-A9
of ,Lions International at a meeting in
Seafortb Tuesday night were informed of a
new moneyraising project that will help
handicapped 'people,
Eric Eastwood of Port Eigin, chairman. of
thedistricthandicapped persons bommittde
outlined the formation of -P,R.I.D.E.
Multieap ,,Foundation (Productive Re•k
habil.ilation and Independent Development
through Employment).
Established in 1977 to meet a perceived
need' of persons who hae the potential to
develop to a stage beyond the extensive
training received at vocational rehabilita-
tio» centres, so that they mtly live up to the
tnte level of their capabilities. P.R.1•D.E.
developed a.small shop in•June 1978 at 350
Saskatoon . Street in London where
physically, mentally.or emotionally hati`d-
icapped adults 'work. As a start. large
plastic candy canes are assembled, filled
with candies and prepared for shipping and
in some cases delivered to an adult by a
t handicapped driver,
The lions Clubs of Multiple D.istrict.4
are providing the initial market for the
candy canes which thg,.members will sell in'
their individual area. Multiple District A
covers Ontario, parts .of Northern Quebec
and Labrador.
The lions Clubs will realize' a profit and
we'll supply much, needed employment for
handicapped persons.
Twelve "- 'h,andicapped persons are
working at the shop, managed by Ed
Kencaid of London who is himself blind.
Eventually the board of directors of
P.R.i.D.E. made up of 12 concerned
volunteer citizens from, the London Corn-
munity hope to'have 140 workers by June'
1979,
They may come front any area in
Multiple 't A", from sheltered workshops
recommended by government agencies but
they must apply for the work themselves.

Anne Silts, daughter of Mr. and- Mrs. F.C.J. Sills of
Seaforth andJohn V. Mason, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Mason of Oshawa wore married in St. James Roman.
Catholic Church, Seaforth at a nuptial mass on Sept. 2.
Father H.J, Laragh .officiated at the ceremony. The bride
was given in marriage by her parents. The maid of honor
was Mrs. Marion Mason. of Bowling Green; Ohio,
The bridesinaids.were Joan and Jane Sills. The groomsman
was Ronald Mason. of Bowling Green, and the uhcr5
were Bill Mahoney of Hamilton and Bruce Holmes of
Goderich. The organist was Margaret Sills of Seaforth.
Following thc'wedding, a reception was held at the home
of the bride's parents ,at 76 Goc~prich Street East.
Seaforth. Guests attended the weddine from Baltimore,
Maryland; Oshawa;.' Windsor; London; Hamilton; St.
Thomas and • Bowling Green. Ohio. Following a
wedding trip to Northern Ontario, the couule will
reside at 320 Ridge Street, Bowling Green, Ohio.
