Agricultural Minister Wil-
liam Newman announced
new plans for his depart-
ment.
Increased agricultural ex-
ports and a ratinal tariff
system ',could ...do. much,; to
stimulate Ontario's economy
and job situation, Mr. New-
man said. 7,000 full time jobs
'could be ' created if the
importationoftypes of pro=
cessed fruit and vegetables
grown in Ontario were stop-
-ed.
Although the invert
situation is a federal matter,
the agriculture mihister said
the province can act on
, exports and . its own pro-
duction. •

under the new branch and
most ofthe responsibilities of
the Ontario Food Council will
be handed over to the new
branch.
The act under which the
Ontario Food Council
operates will be.repealed and
the council's trade re-
sponsibilities will be trans-
ferred to the ministry of
consumer and commercial
relatiofts.
The second major change
