The 'B' series saw the best
garne in years at the Optimist-
Park as the Queens took 3
extra innings to nip the
Village by a 2-1 score. The
Village opened the scaring in
the third inning as Bill Price
tripled and scored on a
ground out to break the ice.
The Queens evened the
game at ..one apiece in the
bottom of the fourth as
Dave Broome singled
advanced on Jim- Finlanson's
single and scored as Jack
Price sacrificed. Then both .
teams couldn't break ' the
deadlock as the pitchers
continued to control the
game. The bottom of The
tenth inning saw Ray
Klagges single with two men
out then , a double by Bill
Kuntz m4ved 'him to third.
Dennis Campbell then
singled to score the winning
run ending the marathon
game.
Winning
Jack Price, the winning
pitcher, allowed just five hits
over the ten innings and
struck out fifteen.. Rick
Woods also went the dis-
tance for the -Village scatter-
ing ten hits and striking out
six as both teams played
excellent baseball behind the
great pitching. The victory
gives the Queens a 1.0 series
lead with their next meeting
Monday at 7 p.m.
