Being that the score was tied at the end of overtime play, the result was decided by each team taking 5 pernalty shots. Delhi won on their 5th and final shot and now advance to the Cup final against Oakridge, St. Thomas 5; St. Columban - 1 After playing one of their best games against Delhi, St. Columban followed up with ow Of their worst games in St. Thomas on Aug. 13th. Just about everyone on the team was guilty of lack- adaisical play as St. Thomas pressured the St. Columbah defence at will. Some suspect and unauthoritative re- fereeing led to the game almost getting out of hand in the latter stages.. Although St. COlumban played poorly, St. Thomas deserved full credit for the victory as they were continually on the at- tack. This game was a complete' turnaround front the last meeting between these clubs when St, Columba') won by a 5.0 score. Sunday saw, two e4citing games as the Queens, led by Ross Govier and Jim 'Finlayson's home , runs ,.nipped the Teachers by a 5-1core. Both homers came in' the -early innings as the Queens behind the clutch pitching of Jack •Price gained second place in the standings. The late game saw be wore see-saw back and forth with the Village finally coming out on top to post an 11-9 win over the Travellers. The Village victory caused a log jam in the sfindings and emphasized the importance of Monday's games. • , The Teachers came up Wrong Monday night as they' • rallied in the final inning to come from behind and post a -•.4 :,... .. 12-11 win over the .... Travellers,. The win also moved the Teachers into a three way tie for fourth spot in the ::" standings. Late Gaine • The late game was, no oarrtest as the Mainstreet rimed into third place with a devastating 20.3 win over the Firemen, Mainstreet had seventeen hit's' as Ken Roth poked the games only home ran- but Bob Beuttenmiller, Bill • Robertson and Ray Henderson added triples while Bill Salisbury had the • only extra base hit for the Firemen with a triple. With three . teams tied for fourth place the league executive is holding a meeting to set the' playoff schedule which will get underway this weekend. .
