General Rules & Regulations
1. No entry fee will be charged.
2. All entries must be made to the Seaforth Junior Fair Secretary, Len
MacGregor, Clinton, by the Club Leader, not later than Friday, September
8th, 1978.
3. All money will be paid to Club Leaders In the case of 4-H Clubs (both
Homemaking and Agricultural), who will be responsible for distribution of
same. Junior Farmer and Junior institute money will be paid to the Club
Secretary.
4. Displays must be in place by 8:00 p.m, Thursday ePtember 21st, for
immediate judging. The Display Area will be open ednesday, September
20th, at 8:00 p.m. and all day Thursday, September 1st, 1978 to 6:00 p.m.
5. Cost of material should not excestl $20.00 in value. Hydro will be
available if required.
6, Displays are to be designed and erected by club members. Club
Leaders and others may be asked to assist In the planning. ••
7, Clubs participating will receive Transportation Assistance of 10 cents per
mile one way from the central locatlen Of the Club. maximum subsidy of
35.00 (Clubs within 10 miles excepted). This amount will be paid to the
Club Leader who makes entry for the Club.

CLASS 1 - JUNIOR FARMER CLUB EXHIBITS
1. Junior Farmer club members may compete at only one Class "B" Fair in
the same class in any one Year,
2. At least three clubs must be, represented in each Inter-Club Class in
order for the Fair to qualify for a Federal Grant.
3. Open to Junior Farmer Clubs in Huron and adjoining counties organized
in 1978.
4. Table. space of six feet will be available for each exhibit.
5. Prizes; Championship Ribbon; A Exhibit $20.00; B Exhibit $15.00; C
Exhibit $10.00
6. Suggested Themes: Junior Farmer Motto - Self, Help and •CommunIty
Betterment.

1. Open to 1977 1978 4-H Homemaking olubs. in Huron who have set up
e) hibits at a 1978 Acheivement Day.
2. CI u'76 should not set up an exhibit from a demonstration or skit. Exhibits
other than those'of topics stated below will not be recognized as creditable.
'3.'At least three clubs must be represented in each Inter-Club class in order
for the Fair to quality for a Federal Grant.
4, Table space of 4-5 feet will be available for each exhibit. Be sure to state
the exact space required when making entry.
5. Uniform recognition of $12.00 will be given to all creditable exhibits,

SECTION 2 - 4-H INTER-CLUB FIELD CROP COMPETITION
RULES & REGULATIONS'
1. Open to all 1978 members of organized 4-H and Junior Farmer Clubs in
Hijien_ and adjoining counties.
2. Entries must be in place in the Fair Building before 12 o'clock noon on
Thursday, September 21st, 1978. Judging will take place Thursday
afternoon.
3. Entries must be grown on exhibitor's farm in 1978.
4. All kinds of 4-H Clubs (Beef, Grain, etc.) and Junior Farmer Clubs are
encouraged to participate, in their respective sections.
5, Any entry in Class to and B, 2A and B, 3A and B, 4A and B will consist
of three members' exhibits (ie. 2A-3 members each to exhibit 1/4 bale of
,first-cut hay) fiom a club. In 4-H entries the club leaders name will appear
on the „entry tag,
6. Entries will be judged on a. group basis. EAciisconsiderecl_qf top
ranking quality (Group 1) will receive an award of $9.00; second ranking
group entries, an award of $6.00 and all other creditable entries will receive
$3,00 in Classes 1, 2, 3, and 4.
W. G, THOMPSON &' SONS LIMITED OF HENSALL will award a trophy to
the 4-H club with the top exhibit of barley in the 4-H Inter-Cjub Field Crop
Competition.
RUSSELL BOLTON R.R. 1 SEAFORTH will award a trophy to the 4-H club
with the top exhibit of corn in the 4-H Inter-Club Field Crop Corripetition.
COOK'S DIVISION OF GERBRO CORPORATION in Hensall will award a
trophy to the 4-H club with the top exhibit of white beans in the 4-1-1.

SPECIALS
The Huron County. 4-H Club Leaders' Association will donate a 20 ,lb.
turkey to the 4-H leader whose three club members' entries rank first in,
Section 1A. -
The Huron County Junior Farmers Association will donate a 20 lb. turkey
to the President' of the top Junior Farmer Club whose three members'
entries rank first in Section 1B.
The Huron County Soil &Crop Improvement Association will donate*
awarsLin, each of Sections 2A and 26. to the first pface winners.
These specials will only be available where there are three or more
entries per class.

Section 3 - LIVESTOCK
4-H BEEF CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
1. All cattle must be negative to a blood test for Brucellosis within 60 days,
.-and accompanied by a negative, test certificate, except:
a) steers
b) spayed heifers
c) Brucellosis vaccinated animals under 18 months of age (yaw. certificate
to accompany animals)
d)anlmals-fromBrucellOard Freelisteil Herds (owners to obtain form HA 4
from their (coal Health of Animals Branch office)
e) calves 'under:6 months of age (all 4-I-I calves to be blood tested)
Blood samples are to be taken by ico61 practicing veterinarians or their
approved technicians.
NO CATTLE WILL BE ALLOWED ENTRY TO THE FAIR WHICH TO NOT
MEET THESE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS.

MacGregor, Clinton, by the Pub Leader not later than Friday, September
8th, 1978. All entries must be on the grounds not later than 11:30 on
Fair day, September 22nd. Only boys and girls-who are members of the 4-H
Calf Club in 1978 are eligible to compete and must shOw the calf entered In
their club project. Judging Mil commence at or after 12:30 'o.rri. at the
Directors decision.
4. Prize money won by members of Call Clubs will be paid to Club Leaders,
who will be responsible for distribution of same.
5. Entries In this section wilt be stabled together at the _Fair In space
allocated py the Fair Board and or Jdnior Fair Directors.
6. Entries will be judged • on a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize group system.
7. Clubs which bring three or more calves and which show a group of three
calves'in the Inter-Club Competition will receive transportation assistance
of 20 cents per mile one way from central location of the club to Seaforth.
Maxlmum'subsidy $12.00.. Clubs within 10 miles excepted. This amount
,will be paid to the Club Leader who makes entry for the club.

4-H BEEF CALVES .
CLASS 1 -Baby Beef Steers - Steers born between July 1st, 1977 and
December 31st, 1977 (those not nominated for Queens Guineas Class) to be
judged on quality and finish.
CLASS 2 - Queens Guineas Nominated Steers - to be judged on quality and
finish.
GRAND CHAMPION STEER: Ribbon and- prize to 'the value of $25.00
donated by Topnotch Feeds Limited, Sea'forth,
RESERVE, CHAMPION STEER: Ribbon. ..
CLASS 3 - Junior Heifer Calves, any beet-breed, born between January 1st,
1978 and April 30th, 1978 to be judged on quality as breeding stock.' '
CLASS 4: Senior Heiler Calves, any beet breed born between July 1st, 1977
and December 31st, 1977 to be judged on quality as breeding stock.

NOTE: Calves in Classes 1; 2, 3, and 4 will be judged on the group basis.
Entries considered of lop ranking quality (Group 1) will receive an award of
$5.00; second ranking group animals an award of $4.00; all other creditable
entries will receive $3.00
INTER-CLUB COMPETITION
CLASS 5.- Group of three (3) 4-H Beef Calves frorn•any one-club .(heifer or
steers), to be judged on quality and uniformity, A Club may enter more than
one group if it so desires. Prize money: 1st - $12.00; 2nd group - $10.50; 3rd
group - $9.00; 4th group - $7.50; 5th group and each additional group -
$6.00
CLASS 6 - SHOWMANSHIP
1st - $10.00; 2nd - $8,00; 3rd - $6.00; 4th - $4.00; 5th - $2.00
CLASS 7-SWEEPSTAKES SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION .
Rules and Regulations
1, This class is poen to the following: Champion, 4-H Dairy Championship
Show, Seaforth
Champion, 4-H Beef Championship Show, Seaforth
Champion, 4-H Swine Club Show, Seaforth
Champion, 4-H Sheep 'Club Show, Seaforth
Champ'ion, 4-H' Horse Club Show, Seaforth
2; Each contestant ,will be. required to show an individual of each of these
five classes of livestock (dairy, beef, sheep,-swine and horse). Member will
provide own animals, Mileage will be paid where applicable. Winner will
be declared on the basis of all-rOund showmanship with each of the above
classes of stock.
