HEALTH REQUIREMENTS - HURON COUNTY FAIRS
CATTLE: - A
All cattle must be free from Infectious or Contagious Diseases such as
Ringworm and Pink-eye.
All cattle must be negative to a blood test for Brucellosis, within 60 days
of the Falr,
except '
(a) Steers .
(b) Spayed heifers
(c) Brucellosis vaccinated animals under 18 months of age (vacs. certificate
to accompany animal).
'(d) Animals from Brucellosis Free Listed Herds (owner to obtain form HA 4
from their local Health of Animals' Branch office).
' (e) Calves under 6 months of age.
Blood samples are to be taken by local practicing veterinarians or their
approved technicians. Certificate must be presented;•before cattle are
unloaded.
NO CATTLE WILL BE ALLOWED ENTRY TO THE FAIR WHICH. .1)0

In order for our Society to be eligible for the '50% Federal prier
money grant. there MUST be three exhibitors in each breed or groups of,
breeds. If there are not three exhibitors the Society will pay 50% of the
prize money offered. •

2. Open Trait Class - MAN.H.A. rules - you may change hands to work an
obstacle, Slicker and rope required.
3. Jr. Pony Saddle Class Western Tack and Western Dress required., Ponies
to walk, jog, lope, both ways of ring and back-up.
4. Open Flag Race - timed event.
Disqualification - missing barrel or flag
- breaking timer '
- knocking over barrel
5. Open Pick-up Race - helmet for jumper. No horse to go twice. Must be
fully astride horse before finish line. Single entry & prize money.
6. Jr. Equitation - English or-Western Tack. Horses or ponies to walk, Jog
(trot), lope (canter) both ways of ring. Back-up readily. Riders •may be
asked to' work individually and dismount.
7. Jr. Musical Bags:. No cutting Inside markers or doubling back. Last two
ridert will have a run-off. Western saddles are required. HOrses must' lope
between bags,
8. Open•English Pleasure, Hunt Seat Riders suitably attired. Horses Judged
on walk, trot, canter, hand gallop, both ways of ring, back-up readily.
Additional performance may be required by judge: Looking for good
training, Obedience, calmness, soundness, comfortable way of going. Turn
to the centre for a reverse.
9. Jr. Potato Race:lined event ; Each potato must be put In individually on
each trip...down. Potatoes may be dropped in, •
10. Open Pole Bending - timed event.

Providing horse doesn't break timer, horse may be caught & finish.
13, Open Western Pleasure. No tie-downs, martingales or mechenidal
hackamores. Rider and horse in western dress and tack, Horse to be shown
'at walk, jog, lope on reasonably loose rein. Horses required to back.
14, Open Novelty Race - anneupced the day of the Fair
15: Open Patch Race - Single entry & prize money. Not necessary for a
boy-girl partnership.
GENERAL' RULES - The'Society reserves the right to cancel or combine
classes at their discretion, Any class having less than 5 entries will he
cancelled and entry fees refunded the day of the. show.
6. Female with her 1978 calf •at toot-Calf born on or after Jan. 1, 1978. TM
calf may be of either sex. The cow and her calf are to be judged as a "unit'
in this class or If shown in the "group" they cannot be shown individually.
The placing of the cow and calf units is left to the discretion of the
judges, but as a guideline points should be allocated to each
animal on a 50.50 basis if the calf is nearing weaning age..

BREEDERS HERD (Bred and Owned by exhibitor)
7 A group of 4 animals. Both sexes' to be represented. , • .
Each animal in the group must have been exhibited in one of the
above classes.
'Entries must meet with the requirements 'set out in GENERAL
b) GROUP CLASSES;

All entries must be owned by ancf registered in the name of the
exhibitor.
The registration certificate for each respective animal must show' the
exhibitor as "breeder" and as "owner" - In both cases either as an
individual or in partnership. In other words, to exhibitor may be 'a "joint
owner" of an animal and/or the "joint breeder" of an animal. '
Therefore the animals must be7
1. Owned and bred, by the exhibitor, or
2, Jointly owned and bred by the exhibitor, or
3. Owned an djolntiy bred by the exhibitor, or
4. Jointly owned and jointly bred by the exhibitor,
R.O.P.' REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTI RES IN CLASSES FOR BREEDING
ANIMALS
All breeding class entirea Including the female With calf atfoot class must
have been performancd tested under an officially recognized Beef Cattle
Testing Prograin. Animals not old enough to have completed test will be
eligible for showing provided that evidence is available to show that they
have been enrolled in an officially recognized "Beef Cattle Testing
Program."

NUMBER OF ENTRIES PER CLASS
Note: For the purposes of the Beef Cattle Classifications one entry shall
he 'interpreted as follpws:
All registered beef cattle of one breed, whether owned by one person or
more than one person (Individually or jointly) which are maintained en one
farmer breedint unit are considered to be the production of one farm or
breeding unit.
Seaforth Agricultural Society authorizes two entries per class in a
maximum of two classes in Section B.
Palamar Farm donates rosette's, for grand champion female and reserve
grand champion female, grand champion male and reserve grand champion
male for each beef breed.
Toronto Dominion Bank, Seaforth, offers a silver tray to any one breeder
with the most points in any one section.,.
All entries must he owned by and registered in the name of the exhibitor.
