Mrs. John A. Murphy,
77, of 83 Market Street,
Seaforth, died Monday..
July 31, at Seaforth' Com-
munity ,Hospital.
She was the former Lucy
M. Burke, a daughter of the
'taw William and Elizabeth .
(O'Connor) Burke ,of Hib-
bert Township.
Educated in Hibbert
Schools, Dublin Con-
tinuation School and Strat-
ford ,,tlormal School she
taught schools . in Hibbert
Township and in, London.
• She was married in St.
' Columban to John Murphy
in 1938 and the couple
farmed in Hibbert for 31-
years, retiring to Seaforth
in 1969. •
She was a member of St.
Jameg R.C. Church and
was -active in the Catholic
Womens League.
Surviving are her
husband, two sons, Joseph
G., Egrnondville and Wil-
liam F., R.R.4, Seaforth
and three grandchildren.
Predeceased by one brother-
and two sisters.
The body is resting at
R.S. Box Funeral Home,
Seaforth. Funeral Mass at
Sr. James Church, Thurs-
day at 10:30 a.m. with Rev.
•H. „ J. yiragh officiating.

Fred McGavin, . of
Seaforth died Friday at
HuronvieW,, Clinton. He
was in his 96th, year,
Born ' in Carberry,
Manitoba, Sept. 4, 1882. .
He came ,to Seaforth in
1904. He was a carpenter
by trade and during his
many-years O'f eMployment
had a hand in the con-
struction of a number of
area buildings, including
the Canadian Bank of Com-
merce and the addition to
•the First Presbyterian
Church. For some years he
worked for Hydro in ,the
Guelph area and Was 'Pm-
ploYisd) on the construction
'of C.P.R. Station on the
Guelph, Goderich line. For
a number of years prior to
his retirement he carried on
a delivery service in
Seaforth. He wai a member
of St. Thomas Anglican
Church.
His 90th birthday was
celebrated in September-
1972 at the residence of Mr.
, James T. Scott where he
" resided when many friends
called to congratulate him.
Most aaive despite his
years he was a familiar
figure on Main Street
during his daily walk until
he moved to Hatonview in
September .of last-year.
-Surviving- -are—several
nieces and nephews.
,Friends were received at
the R.S. Box Funeral
Fjome Seaforth, on Sunday.
Funeral service was held at
St. Thomas Church Mon-
- day at 2 p.m. with the Rev.
James Broadfoot of-
ficiating. Burial was at
Maitlandbank Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Wil-
liam Smith, dordon Scott,
Neil McGavin, George
Hays; Earl 'Montgomery
and, W J. Leeming.

Brussels Lawn Bowling
Club on July 24 when a
friendly. Jitney was enjoyed
by 60 bowlers.

look all that bad for the future. Matter of

in the so-called Western world, as long as
the people keep their belts light and not get
too greedy for a while.
